Poll: Is Carmelo Anthony a starter or bench? How many minutes a game is he worthy of this season?

I can't vote though because the two starter options come with condescending remarks attached.

 

Hopefully he's a bench player and plays 25ish minutes per game.

Harden 34 mins
3+D Wing 32 mins
Tucker 32 mins
Capela 30 mins

Bench:
EGo 25 mins
Melo 25 mins
Ennis 12 mins
Center (Trevor Booker?) 10 mins
Green 8 mins
MCW 2 mins

I think he will come off the bench and work well with Gordon and Green. Obviously he will not be the player he was several years ago but I really think he can help our team.

 

He can't defend. Regular season he might get 25+ but come Warriors and it will be tough to see him on the court more than 20 min. He'll start because he's a vet.

On this team he is a 2nd unit weapon.

Both....starting some games and coming off the bench.

 

I'm far less concerned about him starting vs coming off the bench, opposed to playing the 4 vs 3. I need him at the 4 100% of the time.

 

He and Paul will probably play together most of the time while in limited minutes.

 

Am I the only one who doesn't really care whether he starts or not? Harden and Paul proved last season that you can run a second unit with a starter and stagger minutes to maximize your talent with different lineups. I could see a scenario where he starts and only plays 27-28 minutes, and I can see a scenario where he comes off the bench and plays 32+ like Gordon often does.

The easiest answer to this is: Who cares? He'll play the number of minutes that make the most sense as to maximize his skillset with specific lineups.

Doesn't matter what any of us think.

Melo is not coming here to be a sixth man. He's a starter. Period.

Thinking about how we can get the best possible Melo we can:

1) Limit his minutes with Harden. Both need the ball, and both are defensive liabilities.

2) Maximize minutes with Capela when a Melo is at the 4. The Rockets did this with Anderson with good success.

3) Try out the turbo nuclear lineup with Melo at the 5.

 

depends which Melo shows up to play. If its hoodie Melo he can play whatever mins he wants lol

 

Melo SHOULD be coming off the bench and playing starter's minutes.

But he'll be a starter, playing starter's minutes. We're too thin at the SF/PF positions for Melo to be coming off the bench.
