I think his point is that he's saying it makes us worse even if you aren't counting what it does to the defense. He's pointing out that the offense isn't what people think it is.

Yeah anyone could see this but there's not a stat that can really translate his addition to this team. The media will try but overall games still have to be played.

Unless I'm mistaken Les has not paid any luxury taxes yet. Or at most 1 year. And Morey constantly had the Rockets operate on the edge of the tax threshold. I'm not sure where the idea that Morey will operate differently now under Fertilla because he's cheap. Given that Les has never been a Dan Gilbert/Mark Cuban type of spender in his tenure.

Lol @Stats like ORATING. Man it's new math over here get lost with theese plain aritmetics like Morey only finished high school... so many factors to it. Seriously Ariza&Luc freakin Mbah a Moute better on the offensive end than Carmelo according to some of yall? You can debate all you want about net +/- what Carmelo brings and what lacks but if we talkin about offense I will take 50year old Melo than those fade-away 30%clip playoffs Ariza threes and Lucs missed layups

All they can do is base it on what he's done in the past. You are correct that he could reverse a 4 year trend here.

Also, when David Locke said that Joe Johnson was washed and wouldn't do much here people wrote him off and said Houston would change everything, he'd get better shots, etc. Jazz got better without him and he couldn't do poop here.

Does it matter? He's getting paid. Waive means he's getting all his guaranteed money and trade kicker bonus.

According to PAAC stats, we'd be worse had Russell Westbrook signed with us, instead of Melo.

btw: Locke made up that stat himself. Does anyone else even use it?

Joe had a hurt wrist in Utah. Once his wrist heals, he'll take off & will be better here. :D

Are you comparing the mid season acquisition of Joe Johnson to signing Carmelo Anthony, 1 season removed from being an All-Star?

Last year was Melo's first subpar year in a system he just didn't naturally fit in. I don't know what 4 year trend you're speaking of but I get what you're doing here. I fell for it.

But it also doesn't take into consideration variables, Will Melo's efficiency go up with the shots created for him by Harden and CP3 in this offense. And does Ariza and LMM efficiency go down when outside of the offense and away from those two creators??

But if Morey did that, we really wouldn't have a legit center on our team. We have young guys who still need to improve and play NBA games for experience, or Nene who can't play a lot. Without a good center it is all small ball and no defensive rim threat or big man to block and defend that rim.

Greg Monroe could be an option although I don't think he is a great fit. Could be a useful finisher around the basket though and a decent backup to Clint although we are overloaded at the 5 spot right now and I do think Nene can still contribute. The problem is we need someone who can at least play against the Warriors that is a rim protecting 5.

    Greg Monroe
    Trevor Booker
    Dwayne Wade

Melo is a far superior player to Joe Johnson at that point, but the decline in Melo's game is real.

The best example we can Melo follows when it comes to his potential "revitalization" at age 34 is Nene.
Nene came in at age 33, struggling with injuries which were exacerbated by his weight, looking kinda chubby during his last year in DC. But Nene got CUT, and he got SWOLE(er) over the summer and the first half of the season. As a result, Nene had his best season since turning 30.
Melo needs to show us that he is dedicated to transforming is body, if he gets his hands on whatever lifting plan/roids Nene was using then he can reverse his decline for a year, if not, then Fat Melon will be glued to the bench come playoff time.
