Perhaps. It could be several things. It could be that TF balked at dropping $15,000,000 when he just dropped a huge deal on Paul, had to resign Capela for a lot of money AND still had to pay Anderson. The tax bill would have been very high. It could be that when the Rockets coaching staff and GM broke down the playoff tape, they felt that they wanted to go a different direction than Ariza. It could be that the Rockets felt Ariza had lost a step.
The Carmelo drama is a whole nother level. It felt like forever waiting for a trade last off-season with multiple reports about how close it was from happening. And this year is the same. First it was the buyout was inevitable. And we waited and waited. Then it was a trade. Now we're waiting. All the time we're getting reports seems like everyday about the next move involving him.
Melo doesn't dribble the ball off his foot, nor does he pump fake and then pass it up. so he's already a bit of an upgrade. being cautiously optimistic
When he's quick with his decisions and attacking his offense is still Elite so hopefully he keeps this kind of pace up next year. I think he'll be fine on defense.
The motivation part was tongue-in-cheek. He would want much more money for his next contract even if he was signed to the MLE. One year vet min is a no-risk deal. That's why I like it. Signing Melo to a relatively large contract is risky. Now he has one year to prove himself. And we'll know whether last season was OKC's fault or his own.
justtxyank it's all good. If you want to make a contribution make it to anyone you like that helps children.
He’s hurt. Maybe Team doctor’s found something that told the Rockets to let him go. So, we replaced Ariza and Moute with Ennis and Melo? Hopefully we flip Anderson for 1 more guy capela-type. Maybe we can go get a soccer player goal keeper, or a wide receiver from overseas and train him/her to catch lobs only and block shots.
Nah Morey is always ahead of the curve, he saw Luc Mbah a moute was in decline. Ariza is soon to be in decline, and 15 million is way over his value. This is all about undervalued contracts. Ennis can hopefully replace Ariza. Mbah A Moute doesn’t need to be replaced. But we replaced him with Melo. We will be a much more efficient scoring team as well as better defensive team if u look at the additions of Melton and MCW. (Just one of Melton or MCW will be playing in the playoffs)
Can't tell if this is satire. If it is, it's way too lame. If it's not, it's way too illogical. He also says this: But the Moute part is rational, and the Ariza part is untrue. It's super polarized around here on Ariza. Just another pot-stirrer.
This is a weird tweet. Those couldn't produce like Melo.... and now we have Melo for cheap... Yes his defensive ability is very lacking but his offense is WAYYYYY better than those 2. The Haterade is flowing!
Nobody in their right mind, especially considering how we lost - referees and missing all those threes without Luc too who had serious setbacks - would go deep in the luxury tax for Ariza. Not paying Luc seems like we didn't want him, but you also have to wonder why didn't Luc wait if we did want him back. Melo is not a minimum player and I wouldn't exactly call Ariza & Luc highly productive either. They were good, for sure and I hate losing Luc and Ariza, but it is what it is. Regarding this deal, I dislike Melo as much as the next man, but for the minimum he's worth a shot.
[Premium Post] Carmelo is a pack leader. Now we are asking a pack leader to become a team dog and respond to the musher's commands of gee and haw. Will Carmelo Anthony spend a season dutifully standing at the 3 point line while Harden dribbles between his legs for 20 seconds per possession? My greatest fear is that our very strong chemistry is disrupted by Carmelo's attitude. I really hope I'm wrong. His defense? Well we know that's a problem area. GOOD DAY
