I see where all the cp3 haters went that said he was washed up last year and wasn't anything special at this point in his career. I haven't forgot you. Lol
Help me understand this.... Ariza has been known to have his shooting slumps. It came at the worst time for us. And after that you want to be competitive in signing him away from the SUNS?? I'm pretty sure he knew that he could be headed to the bench with us. He took his last big payday and probably his last year starting. He's getting older so he will be a great vet guy off the bench down the road when he signs a smaller contract with a contender. It's not about saving the owner money. If you only get a $100 bucks to spend on your team do you want Ariza taking up more of that $100? If we paid him the 15 MM you guys would burn him the next time he pulled an 0 for__ in clutch time.
I love how you're making talent evaluation after one game. Remember when Harden scored 15 points in game 6 against the Spurs?
One season ago, everyone (almost) was pumped to get Melo and a lot of outsiders were saying CP3 and Harden wouldn't work at all. Now one season later, Melo struggled with Westbrook (WHERE SO MANY PLAYERS HAVE) and CP3/Harden proved all the outsiders wrong. I'm gonna give Melo benefit of the doubt, and definitely not listening to all the analysts saying it can't work because there is only one ball or whatever. I think all 3 of them want to win, and that is going to make a bigger difference.
We'll see. It's too early to judge.. And the last time I remember watching him, he had some stops on the rox.
I'd argue that what Ariza and Luc did in the regular season doesn't mean a whole lot, same reason so many people were/are concerned about giving so much money to CP3, because Ariza was MIA in game 7 and averaged about 9 points a game against GS (just like CP3 and Luc were MIA in game 7). I don't think bringing those two guys back and just holding serve with the roster would have pushed us past a GS that got better in the off season (barring injuries), and I'm not sure what we've ended up doing will push us past them either, but we have to try to do something different. Ariza is declining, no reason to believe he would be as good next year as he was even this year based on the trend in his stats. Luc wasn't the same after his injury and there's obviously reason to be concerned that even if he does get back to his pre injury performance that he might be likely to leave us bare again in the future due to re-injury. I'm fine seeing what some of the young guys have, they'll certainly have fresher legs, may be less injury prone, and might not leave us short staffed in critical situations. If the youngsters don't pan out then I'm sure Morey will try to reinforce before the trade deadline, so tough to judge the 2018-19 Rockets when the picture hasn't been fully painted.
People are comparing Melo to Lawson. Melo isn't a cancer in the locker room. He's a professional that should be compared to signing Joe Johnson last season. If he sucks we won't play so it's that simple. I don't get the outrage.
That makes sense on July 1st. But now, Morey is handicapped, because that MLE is much weaker,,,it weakens every time a free agent signs and comes off the board. In your formula above, we have to replace that MLE with an actual player...for sake of argument, if we use it on Nunnally, would your formula be true. Who else? fwiw: I'm not as upset with losing Ariza/Luc as others, but we do need to replace that defense before I say your formula is true.
Now is the time that Harden drops 20 lbs and gets ripped, and Melo loses 40 lbs and gets still not ripped.
So... CP3 Beard ??? Melo Capela I know Cleveland can pay him more but Daryl has got to be thinking, what's the deal with Rodney Hood? Is he from the hood? Does he sit on hoods? Is he related to Ace Hood? Most importantly, would he sign for 3.5 to play in our hood if Cleveland rescinds his QO and makes him a free agent?
Ennis isn't even as talented as Luc. If you really believe that then you just started watching basketball last season. Ennis is a journeyman who has been on 5 teams in 4 years. I hope he plays well but I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt over a vet like Luc.
shoutout to the hawks for buying out ALL of his contract allows us to sign him for the vet's min and keep part of the MLE to sign someone else perfect
I honestly think they kept the MLE not knowing what Melo would except or how the buyout would go down. If Melo has told them that he would sign for the minimum, we have more options now. I'm hoping we pick up someone that can backup Clint. Nene is getting old, and if Clint gets hurt, I don't want Nene playing any extended minutes.
"More excuses. I'll give Paul one thing over Dwight. At least he know when to keep his mouth shut." This is what you said about Cp3. You were one of those haters before lol How'd that crow taste bud?
