Yolo understood. But this is solely directed to those few who want to call people Melo lovers. All because they don't agree with. Yes he comes with baggages. But he also can help this team out.

ive stated theres some value there. in a certain role but it comes with a lot of obvious questions and concerns that go along with it, that are absolutely warranted.

    Melo and Ennis.

PJ guards the better perimeter scorer at the 3/4. PJ before coming to Houston playing the 4 was one of the best defensive wings around the league. Coming to Houston he was taking on more of a low post defender after Ryno started crapping the bed.

PJ is our starting 3 next season unless Morey has something up his sleave.

That being said in our switch defense the 3/4 are pretty much interchangeable. Actually all 5 spots are interchangeable on D. On offense, let’s not act that Ariza was a world beater. PJ is probably better off the dribble tbh. He’s just going to need to be hitting from 3.

No one said to only blame Melo for OKC’s postseason failure. No one was thinking that it’s all Melo’s fault after that OKC series...

but let’s not disregard that Melo was indeed a liability on both ends in the playoffs because he was...anyone who actually watched the games with an objective eye can u tell that...the stats back it up too

Melo was a defensive liability...stats and eye test prove it...you can keep saying Melo wasn’t a liability defensively and it will be just as funny the 100th time as it was the 1st time u said it

lol, that 2.6 difference in defensive efficiency is the equivalent of going from the 13th ranked defense to 5th...let me not even bring up the difference in defensive ranking ranking when Melo was on and off the floor in the playoffs where the defense improved by over 10 points/100 possessions...

lmao, now you’re just making sh*t up out the blue...I’m saying he’s a bad defender because it’s true, I’m saying he’s been inefficient because it’s true...I’ve already said I’ll take Melo and hope he plays well, but I’m not gonna just blindly accept anything said about Melo nor am I down with these Melo is the answer type posts like “we win game 6 or 7 if we had Melo”...I value defense and recognize why we had a 3-2 lead against GS...the answer to beating GS is not to take a step back defensively, so yeah, I’m not happy about that...I am hoping that Morey will bring in another legit wing defender

He's a bad defender that was part of the #12 defense when he was on the court. I'd take that every day of the week especially when he ups his offense in the Rockets system.

Like Morey said, judging a playing in another teams system is different then how he'd fit elsewhere.

Anyway hope you loved watching Ariza and co go 0/27 when it mattered most, Melo won't allow that to happen don't worry.

@Reeko I'm gonna have a thread simply dedicated to Melo's performance game by game. We'll talk, evaluate film and breakdown the numbers and come to conclusions. You're more than welcome to take part. Lets leave OKC in OKC, it doesn't matter anymore.

Time will tell if Melo is able to make a difference.. Melo respects Paul and James and unlike any situation in the past, he's joining a real contender. Live and learn, we'll see what's he learned. Glad we got Ennis.

my concern isn’t really if Melo can be a part of some above average defense, my concern is if he can be a part of a top 7 or top 5 defense, and that’s a valid concern whether u like it or not...you’re not beating GS with a 12th ranked defense after they added KD

Melo would’ve made a couple of buckets here or there, but how many buckets would he have allowed on the other end? If he allowed us to score more in game 7, but we also gave up more points as well due to the downgrade in defense, then what is the net value? Top level defense allows u to still be in a game even while going 0-27 from deep. Top level defense was 1 of the main reasons we were up 3-2 to begin with. Can u see where I’m coming from?

Golden State shot well though so what defense were you guys exactly playing?

KD shot well, Steph shot well, Klay was super efficient. If anything making shots would have helped you guys simply because you'd limit transition opportunities.

Anyway its all moot because we can't prove it one way or the other. Maybe Melo goes 6/12 maybe he gives up 3 additional GS buckets on the other ends and its a wash anyway. All that matters is they have to make it work. Melo has to step up in all facets of his game and by into the system and MDA has to make sure Melo's strengths are also utilized within the system. Defensively I know he locks in when it matters most but locking in has to be a consistent thing and he has to give some extra efforts whether its hitting the glass more or causing some turnovers. So there we agree.
