Well that was a stupid move on his part. If you are a 3/D fringe NBA player, you should be begging to play for the Rockets. Being spoonfed open looks and having none of your warts exposed while playing on a winning team is a guarantee of future earnings in the NBA. He won't find a better landing spot, and nobody is gonna be opening the pocketbook for a role player in Europe if that's what he's waiting for.
I couldn't read it (can't read Spanish) and it was under "rumors." Anyone know if this is definitive? Not saying it's not, I just haven't seen an "official" confirmation. Has Real Madrid's organization announced Taylor agreeing to a new deal? I agree that he would be making a serious blunder by not grabbing this opportunity to play for a contender, Houston (in my opinion), although we don't know the details of just what the Rocks offered him. It's so often about the money, of course, although there are times when a player might take a bit less than what they could get in Europe because they want to prove they can be successful at the highest level. In other words, the NBA.
He's probably getting paid a little more in Europe right now, but if that was his deciding factor it was extremely shortsighted. Frankly playing with us for free would be a better career move. We're a perfect spot for exposure and use of his skills. One decent season with us and he could establish himself as an NBA role player, and they make much, much more than euro role players.
It's the same reason interns do s**t for free/ on the cheap. Take a short term earnings loss for much, much greater gain on the other side.
