Note the timestamps @J.R. writers_blck is likely monitoring those player tags on instagram, and shares the vid with Kelly. Kelly immediately posts it without referencing the source vid, allowing us to believe that's insider news. Yet writers_blck makes no mention on his twitter feed, which you'd do, if it was your vid or news not already posted on instagram. lulz Well done, Iko. You are very, very good at the internets.
That's completely fair, but it was a long 2, I'm not sure the entire team should just assume he was going to make it.
You just like get here or something dude?. It’s happening. It’s been happening since he was on Knicks, it’s already been set in stone soon as the season ended. He will be in a rockets jersey.
It’s no different than making fun of Broussard. But in this case, the plan to get him to login and post worked. He’s now reading and posting. That can only be a good thing Just wish he’d post more and start threads with news. He’d be a great addition here like what TheCat does. But I guess maybe USA Today doesn’t want them cross posting or something??!
not sure if Roberson's job is to hit the offensive boards. A lot of times the corner guy releases to stop transition, and Adams goes solo for offensive rebound. Not really sure what you are saying should have happened on that play. Maybe Melo should have drove??? For Melo to pass out of a mismatch like that is something Ryno would do. We're not going to bring Melo here to *not* ISO a 6'2 guard.
I was just saying that I don't think the entire team should have just given up on the play once Melo got the ball. They had Adams down low and everyone else was just dicking around, if Melo misses, there's no real chance of a rebound and it's a wasted possession. When you have guys who don't provide spacing like Roberson, the least they can do is try to help Adams.
A lot of NBA coaches would disagree. Where you say releasing is giving up on the play, they say getting back on transition defense is the more efficient strategy. On transition defense, you really need the numbers, ideally...always. Numbers will often make the offense not even try, and you are able to get back into a set defense. I believe this is one of the things JVG proved to the NBA. Releasing to stop offenses from even trying transition off defensive rebounds is better than going for offensive boards. NBA doesn't really crash the boards for offensive rebounds, anymore.
If they were headed back on defense, that would be one thing, but they were really just dicking around watching the play.
don't click...just a running convo with btg. Spoiler: for btg What they were doing was better than crashing the boards for an offensive rebound. I get it. This play was picked on in the Dish when it happened. I remember. People said that play exemplifies OKC teammates disliking Melo demanding an ISO. Maybe they did. But we are going to do that very same play if Melo gets ISO'd on a 6'2 player. We won't have a Roberson releasing because he knows no one passes to him in the far corner. But we won't have crashing the boards or off-ball action (ala a Durant ISO) either. I hope we don't b**** about ISO'ing Melo on a 6'2 guard. Just say you don't want the Rockets to get him, and be done with it.
I fully support the Rockets picking up Melo on the cheap, my point wasn't a shot at him so much as it was a shot at the lack of coaching on the Thunder. If the Rockets just stand around looking bored when other players have the ball, I'll have a problem with it. There's a way to do what you are suggesting while still being engaged in the offense and there's what was going on in that clip. I would certainly hope that even with Melo going ISO on a 6'2 player, we'd still have guys engaged in the offense looking for position or being ready to shoot the 3 if the ball is passed to them.
