I really wonder if a 3-way trade with Sacramento wouldn't be the best option.

Sac In: Anderson, Ferguson, Vincent Edwards, Protected Houston 2019 1st
    Hou In: Melo
    OKC In: Onuaku, McLemore, Cash

The major cost to Houston is cap, and perhaps they would only do this deal if Capela takes the QO. The major advantages are it preserves their taxpayer MLE for another player, and they get Melo's bird rights.

For OKC, Onuaku and McLemore are just in this trade to make the salaries work. McLemore could potential provide some punch off the bench. Otherwise, they send out $30 million and only take back $6.8, all of which is expiring.

Sacramento basically uses their cap space to absorb Anderson. The cost for that is paid by both OKC and Houston. Ferguson and Vincent Edwards give them the talented young wings they need, and they get a protected 1st from Houston. My guess is Houston would try to find a way to wiggle out of trading that 1st.

The Rockets don't have hardly any off-ball movement either. Yet they had one of the best offenses ever. The reason is because they have facilitators who can break the defense down and get the defense moving and find the open shooters. That's what the Thunder didn't have.

People need to remember Melo's contract has a no trade clause, so any trade scenarios involving him going to some sh'tty place he has no interest at all are just idiotic.

He would waive the no trade clause if they receiving team promises to buy him out.

its not idiotic bc if it does happen, whoever the team thats getting him has already committed to having no intentions of keeping him

People really don't need to remember that, because it's been widely reported that the team that would trade for him would immediately waive/buy him out.

Looks like I might’ve been wrong but so many conflicting reports. I still feel like it could be done this week but looks like thunder is trying hardcore to do damage control, in desperate need to get something back and lessen the load they would have to stretch.

But it was said they were trying to get this done fast as possible so not only melo but they themselves can start looking to the future.

Also they could defiantly be sticking it to the rockets some but Houston doesn’t mind playing the waiting game considering melo was always going to Houston anyway

Haven't we been in the same boat with Ryan Anderson (although Ryno is more expensive)?

Stop with this idiotic nonsense, and just ****ing buy him out, OKC. You traded for him knowing full-well he would opt-in no matter how last season went. This HAD to be a scenario you considered, but now you're balking and trying to come up with some complicated trade that allows you to save money, shed contracts, but take nothing back. **** you.

Bimathug has already tweeted why a Melo trade is not a good option.

I don't know who Ross is, but I wouldn't be surprised if OKC is looking for talent for Melo. Schroder just doesn't fit with Russ.

Any Sac trade scenario needs to involve WCS to Houston @aelliott.

Does MDA really want Melo over Ryan? I know many of the Clutchfans do but I can't believe he wants a repeat of NY. Melo would have to accept a smaller role than ever.

Yes, not at all. However, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if OKC did ask for Schroder. They are desperate to get talent for Melo. Desperation makes people do stupid things.

The teams he wants to go to can't trade for him, he will have to go to a team that will buy him out -- OR OKC will have to buy him out and stretch his contract. This complexity is exactly why we're still sitting here with no progress, and why I doubt that it will happen in a way that benefits the Rockets (just like the NYK-to-OKC move).

The Rockets might be confident that they'll sign him but that assumes that he gets cut or traded-and-cut in the first place. And OKC is really taking their sweeeeet time.
