The #1 legitimate complaint is money in politics thanks to a Reagan era SCOTUS ruling that corporations should be treated like individuals in their ability to contribute to political parties. Its the basis for nearly every issue that results in "swamp like" issues in DC.

The #2 non-legitimate complaint comes from the Right, and the bowels of the internet like InfoWars that there is some sort of Illuminati secret society that uses liberals to further an agenda of world domination through mind control, drugging our children with "vaccines", and trading on child sex through underground trade.

    ........

The issue here is when someone like Trump uses the phrase "The Swamp" he's having it both ways. Conflating a legitimate issue of money in politics with conspiracy theory.

Its a pretty sick & demented political play but a smart one if you want to do what he did in 2016.

So my ask to folks like you that want to talk about the corruption in DC so vaguely is to be more specific about what the hell you are talking about when you talk about blanket corruption. Are you talking about money & greed in DC, or are you going full blown Alex Jones/Donald Trump?

Because that's a big F-ing difference right there, and I think out of courtesy here for your fellow Rockets fans, you owe us the courtesy of being a little more specific about this blanket corruption you are trying to link up with this theory that Strojk and Page were in on to overthrow Trump's presidency.

    Much appreciated.

Money, greed, power, and politics in DC. What Trump says or thinks has nothing to do with it. My thoughts on this have nothing to do with Storjk or Page either. But power in DC is concentrated into the hands of just a few people, and the lobbyists. It isn't a good combination, and it certainly isn't there to help the voters.

"Drain the Swamp" was Trump marketing and not Trump "truth telling".

Shame on anybody who confused the two.

Thank you for clarifying. I'm sure you can appreciate that the two are often conflated although rarely addressed. I think its a bi-partisan point of agreement that money in our political system is a cancer to our system of Democracy.

I would encourage you to look back at that Reagan era SCOTUS ruling, and how its used to justify many of the things you and I agree are negative in our political system. SuperPACS, dark money, lobbying, etc. etc.

I don't want to push a Dem down the throat of any of our conservative friends here on the board, but I would just note that if this is something you are concerned about, take a second look at our Senator options coming up in November. Whether you like Beto or not, it can't be overstated that the guy hasn't taken a single dollar from PAC's while Ted Cruz.... .well... yeah. If you like Beto's policies or not, I think we should have group consensus that we want our politicians to get elected that way regardless.

Their is a Facebook political mini-series/documentary called "The Swamp" that everyone should watch. Its about 4-5 episodes that are anywhere from 5-10 minutes long and illuminates a lot of the problems discussed here. Everything from lobbyists to expectations of congresspeople (on both sides) to fund raise, to the power yielded by Party leadership over its members, to the surprising power of never elected but long serving staffers. Yes STAFFERS.

Those folks we send to Washington? Unless their name is Mcconnell, Ryan, Schumer, Pelosi or any of the Whips.....they have very little power and are threatened to stay in line or face being relegated to minor committee's and face being primaried by their own party during the next election. The problem isn't so much term limits. The problem is the entire structure that has been cemented over the course of decades in congress (and of course the unbelieveably bitter partisanship).

Money & power controls politics. This has only gotten worse with recent rulings like Citizen United.

Well it's cool how you have an affinity towards the party that wants to pack Federal and Supreme Court Justices who believe that corporations are people and absolutely love money in politics.

    You're so logically consistent .

Now that is a perfectly reasonable statement, yet vastly different than saying corruption and conspiracy "involves pretty much everyone associated with government."

It is unfortunate the FBI agents failed to stop the Manchurian Candidate.
