Congratulations to France. Not the champion i wanted but in the end they did it. Mbappe is amazing and France future looks bright as well
Modric won the award for best player. Good choice this time, giving it to Messi four years ago was a complete joke.
LOL @ the French president and first lady giving out this deep hard earnest hugs and kisses. The first lady locks the arms with purpose.
Real soccer people know that Griezmann, Mbappe, Varane, Kante are better players. Somehow this dude draws all the attention.
My favorite picture of the day. Hold your heads high Croatia for you fought with great courage and valor, though I really wanted Russia to beat croatia.
DC United opened their new stadium this week, Rooney with an assist. Some of those seats are field seats which is crazy.
In a moment of glory, Hugo Lloris takes a moment to remind us all that he is still a **** show. Spurs gonna Spurs.
I hope the idiots that ran on the field got thrown in the same holding cell as the Croatian fans arrested last night/today (you know there were a few). Croatia's first goal was beautiful, so were the last 2 for France. Fun match, Croatia played so well the first half and things just didn't break their way.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...responsibility-world-cup-final-pitch-invasion "p***y Riot claim responsibility for World Cup final pitch invasion Protest performance group say four members ran on to pitch in protest during second half" Both of Croatia goals were beautiful in their own way.
Deserved win for France, although Griezmann's dive was unnecessary and the penalty is eh, somewhat debatable. You'll find racists and xenophobes in every corner of the Earth, it's unfortunate that one man's opinion (and of an irrelevant man that is almost universally disliked by the Croatian public) can sway your preference of a team/country. When Yuli called Darvish chinito and made the slanted eyes gesture, I remained a fan of the Astros, I just liked Yuli less than before.
They have to be the early favorites for Euro 2020. I'd put France and Belgium as the clear 1 and 2 in Europe right now. Croatia will be a threat in 2 years, too. Germany certainly has the ability but I wonder if they've started to tune out Low and need a fresh start. England is close but they have to figure out their midfield. They are missing a strong central mid. Spain is going to be in transition to the youth movement. Who knows what will happen with Italy and Holland. That'll be a fun tournament. What was scary to me was that France could've been better in this tournament. I think if you replace Benzema with Giroud, they are even more of an offensive force. Shame that the national team and Benzema had the falling out they had. I'll never understand the infatuation for Giroud. How someone can get the chances he gets and misses at the rate he misses is beyond me. I think it should've been Mbappe personally.
