If you and your wife like Food Docs like Anthony Bourdain/Andrew Zimmern style, go watch "Somebody Feed Phil". It not serious as Anthony Bourdain's show but also has more depth than Zimmern's. Wife and I binged it all this past weekend. His original PBS show is on Netflix as well, " I'll have what Phil's Having". Edit: Did not really read the title of the thread. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love Ballers as well. I would’ve mentioned Ballers, Shameless and Ray Donovan (especially the first few seasons) except they’re ongoing shows. Ballers and Entourage both have Wahlberg as an Exec producer and the same Director so that’s prob where a lot of the similarities come from.
Tons of great suggestions. Thanks everyone. @Buck Turgidson I have never seen Longmire so not sure where you got my dislike of season 1 from... but I did see (and give up on) The Bridge.
I loved Broadchurch and Happy Valley. I practically binge watched those series. I'll have to check out the other two you mentioned. Do they have some humor in them as well? Did you see Last Tango in Halifax? Sara Lancashire from Happy Valley is in it. It's a binge worthy series comedy drama. It's on Amazon Prime, and has 3 series.
Luther is a more serious British crime show, though the character "Alice" does have a few dry funny lines. Great show.
Farscape, best Space Opera ever made. My personal favorite that still looks good a couple decades later.
Just curious...is Twin Peaks worth watching? I remember it being a really big "you gotta watch it" show back in the day. I never did watch it...and now I'm looking for something to watch.
First season and a half were amazing. Then it turned into a Western soap opera and surprise! Canceled. I don’t know why HBO does that. Creates an amazing show then turns it into a soap opera.
It was cancelled mostly because of money, wasn't cheap to film apparently. HBO did finally do a movie to clear up all the loose ends.
Just started 11.22.63 on Hulu. It's based off a Stephen King novel about time travel and changing the JFK assassination. Has James Franco... it's pretty good so far
