Bazemore can play SF. I know in the past he has said he prefers to guard 3’s. He is shorter than we would like but he is an overall good defender and an adequate three point shooter. He is on par with Ariza.

Carroll would likely involve a larger trade with draft picks or one involving Eric Gordon.

As for Batum, he does have a contract longer than Anderson’s but it doesn’t mean as much to the Rockets because we will be operating above the cap for as long as we have Paul.

Ariza was only a C+ starting SF anyway. There will be options available.

I think it makes more sense to start Melo and then sub him early with cp3 or a bit behind him.

Regarding Batum... it seems logical but the Capela situation says otherwise imo.

Bazemore is a 2 that can play 3. The Rockets need forwards. 3s that can play 4.

    Generally agree on Ariza.

They should start melo but remember how our rotations work. Cp3 will be on the bench after the first 4 minutes of the game, MDA needs to let CP3 chaperone Melo thru the game. Melo will get his numbers and put considerable pressure on the defense. The problem though if they get James Ennis somebody has to step forward defensively so that PJ doesn't get overloaded. you must 3--3&d guys to beat the warriors

If Melo wants to win a championship the choice is the Rockets. The Rockets barring some major trade it's hard to imagine a better starting power forward than Melo. This ought to be capable of resolution.

No one has ever accused Melo of wanting to win a championship. He refused to leave New York forever while they were terrible.

I agree with the suggestion that you let him start and basically mirror CP3.

I said "if" for a reason. Yes, he has spent most of his career as seeming immature and with a "New York" state of mind. However, Melo did win a championship in college and his playoff numbers outside of last year are quite good. It all seems a matter of what Melo wants to do. He will largely self-select with this choice.

This is a no-brainer decision for Melo.

Miami has a starting spot, more shots, better beaches, better nightlife, and much better looking women....all the things that are important to him.

He would be an idiot to come to Houston.

I see signing of Carmelo as a desperate move. Team know they can't beat Golden State after Cousins signing so they need to do something especially without Ariza and Luc. But I predict this signing of Carmelo is a chemistry destroyer. He is killing the Thunder's team every time he's out there.

To suggest he's not interested in winning is crazy, he went to Oklahoma City for God's sake.

His thing is, and you can see it from his exit interview, is that he wants to be part of the winning process and there's nothing wrong with that, its called competitive spirit.

On the flip side he has to understand where he's at in his career, his strengths as a player and how they're best utilized within the team. He must also take the challenge defensively as he'll be attacked on the court and in the media for it and its up to him to find that consistency on that end and make teams regret singling him out.

Give and take is the thing here and this is the right place for him to do it.

So it sounds like we're looking at replacing Ariza and Luc with Melo and Ennis? Egads. I would gladly be wrong and eat a big steaming plate of crow, but I'm not even sure the implied rotation would be able to secure 4th seed in the West, never mind take GS to 7 games.
