Well, the big difference is that Draymond is an elite defender, transcendental even. He changes the ballgame...he takes players out of games (such as Capela and Harden). He would do that on ANY system, and I'd wager the Rockets would be champions if he'd be inserted into our starting lineup with CP3, Harden, Tucker, Draymond and any corpse in the other position (hell, put Ryno or Melo there). He is also proven over a longer period of time. I would not hesitate to give Draymond 4/100. But I see your point, if you put Draymond in say, a team with no real playmakers, he wouldn't tilt the scale as much, but I do believe he would still make their defense much, much better. Same with Capela, just at a smaller scale.
Sorry but the shelf life of Capela rendering Gobert and KAT into lifeles meat puddles in the playoffs is a bit longer than you think it is.
I jus don’t understand why fans would openly and disgustingly berate and call Capela names for wanting as much money as he possibly can. Sure he’s not worth it. Sure I want a discount. Sure I’m afraid to lose him if he takes the QO. But why tf would one ever call him such profanities just for a disagreement in worth during a business negotiation. Just absurd.
I'm guessing it's the same reason of why Capela reacted with a sad emoji after the negotiations. Just an emotional response, hopefully from younger posters who have yet to experience too much of life (although I know full well that stereotype doesn't apply to everyone). I think this "Sure he’s not worth it. Sure I want a discount. Sure I’m afraid to lose him if he takes the QO." is exactly what is going on in Morey's head right now.
Doesn’t matter. You ask any GM to pick out of those 3 and they’ll pick a DPOY and the NBA all-star. Not Clint Capela.
Yes but they will be lost if he gets traded, and he can get traded only with his consent so, only to a team that he wants to join and that is going to have enough cap space to resign him in free agency to the money he wants.
100% this. I will never fault a business man for trying to get top dollar for their product. I was hoping his agent would see the market and be thrilled with 12-15 million, but I don't fault Capela one bit for feeling like he deserves this money after absolutely out playing KAT and Gobert in the playoffs and being the third most important player on a 65 win team.
That's dumb of course because you're presuming an abstract. Nobody gives a damn about your abstract. Ask a GM in April when they're trying to beat the Warriors or the Rockets. Gobert is easily exploitable on switches, and KAT's playoff resume consists of being entirely broken by Capela (and would have been destroyed by the Warriors too, in all likelihood) Sure if a GM wants to win 50 games and they have literally nothing, they might go for one of those guys, but that's not the Rockets situation.
Maybe Morey wants him to take the QO so he can clear Ryans 20mil off the table next offseason and find a mid level star to offer it to before using Capela's bird rights to go over the tax
Tell me again about Capelas critical minutes against the Warriors? LOL. They made the Rockets bench him.
thank u...I agree 100% with this people attacking CP3 for getting what he’s worth and sh*tting on Capela...it’s pathetic the majority of people trying to count CP3’s pockets would’ve taken a 4/160 deal without hesitation and would not be trying to settle for 4/60 if they were Capela, but it’s so easy to judge when you’re not the one making the financial decision if we lost Capela next summer and DJ didn’t want to come here for some significantly reduced salary like the vet min or taxpayer MLE, then these same people will be calling him a loser, greedy, etc too... the NBA incentivizes players to take less money to save these billionaires money, and it’s bullsh*t
