I don't know that this is Gray's fault necessarily, but Duval seems to trust Melton way more. He'll pass the ball to Melton, but not to Gray. The end result is the offense looks much better when Melton is in with Duval instead of Gray.
At this point it would be hard to argue otherwise. Looks like a lottery pick, and he's playing like one. He doesn't remind me of Pat Bev at all. Perhaps his role would be similar, but the way he plays is different. He seems to play a much more disciplined style of D...probably helped by his length. On offense, he seems like a much more natural playmaker than Bev ever was. His athleticism isn't elite, but it's good enough to pair with good vision and decision making. Also...his lack of a jump shot was VASTLY overstated. It looks fine, and the ball is going in. I really hope he works out. After watching Nick Johnson and KJ McDaniels flame out, we may have finally found a 3&D guard with skills.
Hopefully Melton won't be forgotten on the d-league for all the season, give this guy some minutes in regular season.
Melton's composure and timely aggression is what makes him look ready to me. He's sneaky quick and can score from several spots. Still looking for what sets Edwards apart.
It wasn't overstated. His elbow flared out during his shot in college. During his year out of college, he put in the work to correct that form and now we're seeing the results. I saw a video of him working on it, but I can't find it at the moment.
Melton has vision while leading the break and knows to either pass to the open man or attack the basket very well. This kid I feel late in the season can really spell some time for Paul, control the offense, and have Harden do what he has to do at the SG position.
Melton, Duval, and Edwards will make great G-league splash brothers. Looks like they like playing with each other.
