Luc was the reason I wasn’t upset with losing Ariza. Without either, I think we regress to 50-55 win team given how tough the West has become. Moreys certainly not done but you’re not going to replace even 75% of our defense from last year which is the reason we were in G7 WCF.
KD dropped like 30+ a game. How important was their defense really? Maybe if Ariza could score more than 0pts we would of won game 7
yet the guy they had playing for him had to play 40+ min is now gone. No big deal. lol way to do your homework
Wow this is not what was expected at all. He sign with the Clippers for next to nothing. I personally don’t understand at all. Thought he would start for us but walks for less than 5M on a 1 year deal. Why not just sign him for depth if nothing else?
I get people who are upset that we didn't keep Ariza. Ariza was a long time Rocket. He played great defense in the Warriors series. We had his bird rights. We could've easily kept him if we want. It makes sense. But I don't get people upset we're not keeping LRMM. Luc was hurt and couldn't play against the Warriors. We don't have bird rights so he took up the MLE. And quite frankly, if the Rockets found LRMM last year for the minimum they can still do so this year.
Gsw Fans laughing at houston saying now it just take 5 games to get it done. Like i care. I bet you with this impact, Lakers or Utah takes us to 7 games lol.
It pretty much is a big deal. The rest of GS didnt score. They were routinely kept under 100. KD is one of their only iso effective players. Our defense made them do that.
I hate losing Luc, but honestly I wasn't oozing with confidence after how mentally fragile he was after his injuries. I know ultimately we will be okay and we are still the 2nd best team in the West, but it's hard to believe that our defensive intensity will remain the same after losing two of our top defenders.
I really wonder may be Morey thought process heading to this offseason is driven by some data showing exclusive switch-all defense reduces/eliminates the effect of a good wing defender. Morey could be betting on - ok defender better offensive player at the expense of - a very good defender not so good offensive player. I wonder how the line up of CP3, Harden, Gordon, Tucker, Clint fared number wise last season.
If only we had BAEed Luc rather than Black from a year before. If only Luc could have viewed career from a grander scheme (Cali tax, bird right etc) Anyhow, painful loss. But bear in mind that - Luc did not show up at all in the playoff. - His injury remains a big question mark. - How many of us noticed the name of LMM from the available FA list this time last year?
