What are some good finished TV series that are available to stream on Netflix and Amazon Prime?

I don't have cable so I'm not looking to just watch the first couple seasons of a show that's still currently airing. I'd rather look towards series that are done. We (wife&I) are nearly done with Orphan Black so I'm looking for some recommendations.

Each episode is its own story. But Black Mirror is amazing. Especially if you want to be cheered up a bit about the future.

All three seasons of Fargo. 10 episodes each.
Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock...
The End of the $%^ing World was superb.
    Orphan Black was entertaining.

That series is still going though right?

(Fun fact: I started watching Orphan Black because I got it confused with Black Mirror.)

Yeah it is still going. If the quality continues I could see it still going 10+ years from now. I highly HIGHLY recommend it though.

"Fringe" Up until the last season was really good someone recommended it to me in another thread. They give Scully and Mulder a run for their money.

I could recommend a lot of things, but it would be helpful to know some of the major things you've already watched, or at least your favorites. Could be I'd end up listing 10 things and you've seen all of them.

But I'll list a few of my favorites that are perhaps somewhat less well-known...

If you're open to anime, GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) is comfortably one of my two favorites ever (Haikyuu is the other, but that's not over yet... it does have a pretty satisfying semi "ending" where it stands though). I don't think GTO is available to stream anywhere though. I could be wrong.
EDIT: It looks like you can actually stream it on Amazon, but only through something called "Viewster", for which they're offering a 7-day free trial. You could theoretically binge the whole series in that time, as there are 42 20-min episodes (14 hours total). Oh, and go with the dub, it's a great dub. Some of the humor actually gets lost in the sub version because the translation sucks.

Numb3rs is available on Amazon, and isn't necessarily the greatest-written or greatest-acted ever, but what it does incredibly well is character development/growth. All the characters are different people by the end, and nearly everyone is extremely likable (some key cast don't arrive until season 2 though).

Downton Abbey is available on Amazon, and is a show that no doubt most people have heard of, however I find most men (and even some women) immediately brush it off as a dumb period drama geared towards lovers of romance novels. This is not the case; it's an exceptional show. My brother & I finally convinced a gamer-friend of ours to give it a shot after several years of telling him to watch it. He started watching it on a Thursday, and liked it so much he had binged nearly the entire series over that weekend. I myself have watched it I think 3 times at this point. My wife & I also went off on quite a search trying to find something with similar subject matter / tone / quality of acting & writing, but it just doesn't seem to exist. The still-airing Poldark is the closest "replacement" we've been able to find.

    Entourage of course for comedy.

The Wire most definitely for drama.

Futureman on Hulu is possibly the funniest show I’ve ever seen.

If you want me to stick by your rules...

If you like SciFi there's no reason you couldn't start Black Mirror. The episodes have nothing to do with one another, think Tales of the Crypt or such.

I know you didn't like 1st season of Justified, but I swear you should stick with it until the second.

The Wire is an amazing show, no ideas if you have to have HBO to watch it though.

I liked The Bridge, only went for 2 seasons or so but....

There's a bunch of mostly BBC stuff: War and Peace was great; The Killing, Wolf Hall, The Tunnel, The Game (fantastic if you like spy stuff), etc....

I’ll go a different route on this. I’ll give you some genres people don’t usually recommend.

If you wanna watch some pretty entertaining spy/secret agent shows you can check out “chuck”, “burn notice”, or “Nikita.”

If you wanna watch some “western” feeling dramas you can check out “justified”, “godless”, or “longmire.”

    Good stuff.

Godless was a whole lot better than I expected, good call. Longmire is solid if he wants to watch procedurals. Check out Hell on Wheels too.

Banshee? Do you like violence and nudity, but mostly violence? And nudity.

We started watching Entourage for the first time a month or so ago. It's a fun show. I watch Ballers, and they are so similar.
