It'd be passable for a Vet min with the mentality that the second he shows that he really is washed up or refuses to be coached he gets waives straight up. Has to be willing to come off the bench, has to play defense to the best of his ability, has to completely stop taking contested mid range shots. If he fails any of those cut him outright. Would it be possible to sign Melo to a non guaranteed or a 2-way contract? Either way though I would x1000000 rather have Ellington.
17 players have tallied at least 500 minutes for the Thunder one season and 500 minutes while playing elsewhere in their following season. On average, they fared significantly better in several key statistics in their first season with a new team. The statistic below that stands out to me most is the PER. Players, after leaving Westbrook, are almost 20% more efficient for their teams the following season. Give me a 20% more efficient Melo over last year any day!! Let me ask you this: if playing with Westbrook is so bad for guys, why did Paul George stay? He likes Westbrook. Being a likable guy doesn't mean you're not negatively affecting others games though. Even then, for every player that likes Westbrook, there seems to be a player that hated him.
so much this. no idea how theres people that dont even see this. one of the main reasons this move sucks for the Rockets. Even if he isn't here to play the 3, its still a domino effect to the entire team. lets just say hes playing the 4, however PJ tucker is so much better at playing that position. Well since Melo can't play the 3 it forces PJ tucker to adjust to what was a strength in the rockets defense and where the defense took off to a higher level, when he was inserted at the 4. Now he has to slide over to the 3 and adjusts the dynamic of the entire teams defense. Featuring melo and harden in the same lineup nets you back to the same mediocre defense in the past and that is a recipe for disaster. So instead of sticking with the defensive plan that resulted in the most success the rockets have ever had against GS, it now must be altered to fit personnel which is a downgrade LMM is a way more important signing on this team than Melo. This of course assuming hes durable enough to handle the void ariza left behind. if not then, yeah the rockets are ****ed, and baring a trade of some sort, theyre worst than last year
yeah and gordon last year got a little boost from starting and was like 20 points off the bench. Havent looked it up but I bet he was closer to 25 starting.
I think a trade is highly unlikely, especially considering OKC is trying to shed as much salary as possible. Expect a buyout soon after OKC gets off that dead horse. I'm guessing it happens next week. Plus, doesn't Anthony still have a no trade clause so he can dictate where he goes anyways?
I don't think it's either or, I think it's both tbh. Melo for vet min, Luc for the taxpayer MLE. Capela/Warm body Melo/Tucker/Ryno Luc/Green Harden/Gordon/Duval CP3/MCW/Melton Y'all wouldn't run it back with that lineup?
Trading for a guy that will eventually be stretched would be dumb. You get out from under Anderson's salary a year early, but his contract will be an asset you can use to get better next year (if you even keep him). And y'all have me excited about these Bazemore pipedream scenarios. The Thunder don't really gain much in savings from a swap either, and maybe I'm crazy, but I actually think a healthy Ryno makes them better.
much better if Melo accepts a limited role off the bench as stated countless times in these threads but thats a huge question in itself for obvious reasons. featured player in the starting lineup. no thanks. theres no reason for tucker to be off the bench. hou reached another level defensively bc of him
https://www.chron.com/sports/rocket...officially-re-signs-with-Rockets-13058035.php Asked if he has begun talking with Carmelo Anthony, who is expected to be released by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Paul said "I talk to Melo all the time." He did not specify if those conversations were recruiting efforts should Anthony become a free agent again, leaving it at, "We'll see, we'll see."
How does Mike D feel about this? Melo got him fired in NY. Will Melo get Mike D fired a 2nd time???? Stay tuned!!! Welcome to HTINE, MELO > HOLT I DINE
Why would next year Ryno contract be an asset? Melo and Dwight's expiring contract netted Timmy's 2 years $36 million contracts just to get rid of Dwights expiring contract.
We will rue the day. CP gonna cost us more than $1M per game he plays and now he brings broke ass cancerous Melo to the Rockets. #worsethanpippensigning (if it happens)
I really like this line up, only if Luc can play like he was pre/shoulder injury. Tucker will be playing the 4 and 5 spot so we don't need that warm body.
Tucker is ok defensively but he sucks offensively, he only looked great last year cuz we have Ryan Anderson as the comparison. Melo would be the starter and he would fit as the 2nd option after Harden he can take advantage of all of the attention Cp3 and Harden get. The biggest weakness the Rox have is they are too dependent on Harden and Cp3...if those guys are locked down we can't score and Harden goes into r****d mode and starts chucking shots. Melo can fix that because while his shots aren't efficient, a Melo iso is still better than Harden dribbling for 23 secs and throwing up a contested 3. The defense isnt enough to beat GSW, KD and Curry are unguardable anyway so last years recipe wont work again. Why are you worried about Luc? He will get the MLE he aint going anywhere nobody has money anymore.
Listen Bob it aint that serious. Millions of people die from cancer and you're applying that as an analogy to a childs game. Shame on you.
Some fans here said Westbrook cant make his teammates become better. If we could sign Melo, its a good chance to prove that.
