    And the sad reality of the new 30-40 mil maxes along with the slower than expected growing cap is that his value is actually less than it would have been 2-3 years ago.

    I havent done the math...
    but couldnt it benefit everyone for CC to play out the qo - get the Rox under luxury tax this year so repeat offender disappears - then give him stupid money on a 4 year deal next year so we pay the luxury tax - but not the repeat offender... and make up to him whatever he misses out on this year...
    I'm under the impression that the repeat offender is what really causes the lux tax bill to skyrocket... correct?

    5 yrs 75 Mill?

    I think a 4 or 5 year deal is mandatory
    I don't want to go through this again next year when he unrestricted

    4 yrs 80 mill would probably be the tops

    That's easy enough to say, but is it worth having a key member of the team unhappy with management? A multi-year deal starting at $15 million would be a bit more palatable for Clint, in my opinion.
