I hope to see Duval and Melton making good progress. We need playmaking and defense. If they can make a few jumpers from long distance too, I will be quite pleased. Roy Rogers should give Deng Adel and Gary Clark a lot of minutes in the next game.
On this Summer League Rockets team, I am not really down with the Rockets rolling out these mid-20 something guys on the Summer League. If they don't have a chance at a future on the Rockets, why bother? Hunter? House? Brown? Melton - Duval - Edwards - Clark - Hartenstein - Zhou. These guys should be soaking up the majority of the minutes. And I know Nanu is on the roster. But I personally don't see a future for him moving forward with the Rockets and thus would limit his play.
Drop RJ and Markel from the 2 way contracts and replace them with Trevon and Deng. Both of them have real NBA potential. The G-League will help them out a great deal. Morey and TF need to do this ASAP, otherwise they will regret not making these moves. Edwards and Clark should continue on their respective 1 year contracts. Give a 2 yr deal to Melton, and keep the MLE open for a more experienced player, with some talent. BPA is needed with it. I want Luc back on the Non-Bird 2.8-2.9 M deal. If he hadn't gotten injured, he should been offered the entire 5.29 M MLE.
Nanu is in his third summer league, has been a G-League starter for two years, AND has spent considerable time with the big team (although not much playing time). He should be dominating summer league. Unfortunately, he's prevented from dominating by the fact that he pretty much sucks. Time to move on from this particular experiment.
I hope whatever trade the Rockets make with Anderson, they include Nanu in the deal and cash to cover his year's salary. Just get him off the cap and open a roster spot.
How do you know those players won't be good, until you see them play? I get the allure of playing players you know you want on your team, so that they get the experience. But one of those "others" might show you something in their game that you would have never seen, had they not played.
I suppose not mentioning Hartenstien was an over-sight, or are you suggesting to not sign him due to we still retain his "stashing" rights. I'm fine with that, except I suppose we risk a Euro team signing him with a pesky buy-out clause that could pose prohibitive to our right to just sign him anytime we want. I'm also fine will how you signed everyone without giving them a 3rd year, to avoid having to use MLE and possibly piss off Luc. Of course that means any of them could over-kick their coverage, resulting in Arenas Rule RFA issues later, and the poison pill offers that go with it....which can now actually hard-cap you.

I see your point, but there have been stories such as Patrick Beverly and Hassan Whiteside of guys resurrecting their NBA careers in their mid-twenties. I'm about 90% in agreement with you but I think if Morey and co. think their is any chance that a mid-twenties guy has turned the corner and could be a solid rotation guy you still have to look at them. But not sure how that could be RJ Hunter or Markel Brown.
