And that is the thing, it’s a great time to bring him along. He should at least be better offensively than Marisnick. And as such the Astros are near the top of the baseball standings. So he should not have that much pressure on him... But if he gets his groove going sooner rather than later, it will be a HUGE offensive surge to what is already one of the best offensives in baseball.
Straw, although probably not quite as good a fielder as Jake, should be ready to fill Jake’s role next season and then some.
Marisnick has always been valuable for what he provides. Like Everett, he is above avg to elite at everything but actually hitting the ball, although he doesn't play as premium a defensive position as SS. He has been used effectively as a late game option, not so much as a starter. It's a luxury to have the options the Stros do - 4 years of intentionally tanking will do that. You wonder if Tuckers being groomed for the DH, or the stros will sign Gattis to a 3 year contract this offseason. With Kemp, Springer and Reddick, a crowded outfield is a wonderful problem to have.
I would assume Tucker plays everyday now. Jake will play everyday in AAA, giving him needed at bats for the playoffs. Astros will need his late inning defense during the playoff run.
Also worn by both the Everetts and Phil Garner. And I sure hope he has a better career than former OF phenom Cameron Drew.
