Guys it’s not like we’re going to cripple our future with a move like this. Morey himself said we need to up the risk profile. I’m skeptical as well but we need the firepower. We’re in the midst of a short championship window and we need to go all out. #GiveLOME
I don't think the Rockets would offer their full MLE for Anthony. He may not even require it. Ellington can hit some 3's but there are real questions about his defense. It would be ideal to get Luc and another player split the MLE and get Anthony for the minimum.
I see u made no mention of defense Who cares if Melo is the better scorer when his efficiency is below league average? Idc if u can create your own shot if the majority of the time it results in a brick. I want Melo’s shots being created for him, but he doesn’t like being Olympic Melo.
Melo has said he won’t give up any money that he can’t recoup on the market according to David griffin. The lakers have held out just over 5 million in cap space and are currently holding off on signings while they wait to use that money. The rockets have held their mle back and have basically had no interest in any mle signings so far.
I don't care what any of you say, adding Carmelo to this roster would instantly close Houston's window of contending.
I think he could be a good fit off the bench. If Morey, MDA, CP3 and Harden manage to make him understand that he's more useful for us at that role and that he would be more confortable at that role, it's OK. Re-signing Luc Mbah a Moute, specially with Ariza leaving, is a priority right now over Melo and whoever not named Clint Capela. But if we can keep Luc and start him, and Melo fills the Rhyno role as backup PF for a cheap contract... then I'm in. That would be a solid addition for us.
3 games against our so called defensive stopper Ariza. I don’t think OKC used him correctly. He’s more free lancing here. He can post and bring diff aspects compared to just run and gun. Don’t let me bring up Game 7 stats. Rockets players cannot create own shots! Only Harden and Paul.
On paper, most definitely. The key to the warriors success, and Houston's last season was that everyone had a role, and didn't play outside of that. Everyone tried to stay in his respective lane. Melo is a wild card. I believe he can stay in his if he came here, but I get the reluctance of others. The last thing we need is Melo hero ball.
Fair enough, then let him sign with the Lakers. The only way I'm down to sign him is for the league minimum.
