Brooklyn just traded multiple second round picks in order to dump Mozgov’s contract to open up major cap room for next summer. The Nets don’t appear interested in taking on money past 2019. So I don’t see Crabbe or Carroll as realistic trade options in deals involving Anderson.
Crabbe has a P.O for 2019 which he is sure to exercise. The difference is only 1.5 million and at that point Rhyno should be much easier to trade away since he's a better player.
That’s a shame. Both players proved that they can shoot the 3 at a high clip last season. I wonder who the Nets even have in their sights next offseason? I don’t see free agents flocking there to play so maybe the best route for them would be a future trade for a star and then try to sign a star FA. Like what Boston did with Kyrie and Hayward. For example, maybe they trade for Lillard and then try to convince Klay. I don’t think that scenario is even close to happening with those two players but it’s an example. The nets have some good young players but none that FAs really want to play with. IMO they need to try to build from within, remain flexible and opportunistic. Getting (probably) two firsts and a 20 million dollar contract that expires in 2 seasons kinda fits that. Plus, the nets are going 3 crazy like the Rockets so Anderson could revitalize his career.
Jonathon Simmons. Orlando gets: Ryan Anderson, DeAnthony Milton & a lotto protected 1st in 2019 Houston gets: Biyombo, and Simmons. ----------------------------------------------------------- Teams swap bad contracts and the Rockets basically trade a late 1st for Simmons. Orlando needs a PG prospect, so Milton goes in the deal. Just a thought.
Nunally and Ennis to lesser degree also fit this crieria. Ryno for Batum also adds 3-D wing under 30 with additional playmaking ability. MCW is former lottery pick with potential to increase his asset value before trade deadline.
Interesting, to me at least. Orlando isn't going anywhere this year and they'd get a slightly larger expiring next year. Simmons isn't top flight by any means, and I worry about his defense, but he's not shabby and would have no pressure to create for himself.
ORL on verge of signing Isaiah Thomas but like your thinking adding another scorer/creator Houston boy in Simmons. Wait until trade deadline and move Ryno, EGordon, Duval, 1st rounder for Simmons and AG instead. CP3 Harden Simmons AG Capela Luc, Green, Melton, Clark, Bebe, Qi, Nunally off the bench.
Don't know if Orlando would be willing to part with either Jonathon Simmons or Terrence Ross, but I wouldn't mind either player winding up on our roster.
Echoing sentiments on Jonathan Simmons. I haven't seen him much in Orlando, but his defense on Harden when he was with the Spurs was impressive and I like his on court mentality. His contract is pretty damn good, so I don't see Orlando parting with it unless it's for something more substantial.
For a 1st round pick? I think they'd part with Simmons! I don't want Ross, but Simmons would be an upgrade over Ariza IMO. Just 33% from 3 tho, probably too low to catch Moreys eye.
I understand what you are saying, but I disagree that getting Batum for Anderson is a small upgrade. The goal is to beat the Warriors and Batum is an asset against Golden State, whereas Anderson is unplayable. For another, Batum, as a 3 and D wing, provides the added benefit of solving the third point guard dilemma the Rockets face when CP3 misses games. For the Rockets, Batum checks a lot of boxes. Is he on the level of Jimmy Butler? Of course not. But good luck getting a superstar caliber player right now for Eric Gordon and late first round draft picks. Multiple teams around the league can beat that offer. The only star the Rockets might be able to land with such a package now is Kevin Love, and he has the same defensive issues against the Warriors as Anderson. If you want a third superstar, wait a year once you can trade Clint Capela (provided he doesn’t take the qualifying option) and you have a very attractive trade chip. Combined with an expiring Eric Gordon, that might be able to get something done.
Did Simmons learn to shoot 3s?? He has a huge gaping weakness for our system. Couldn't play him for stretches because he can't space the floor, ruins our offensive scheme...
We don't need to trade for a SF. We got Swaggy P for offense and MCW for defense. Just combine those two players into one and we got the perfect Ariza replacement.
