he would actually be a good pickup. young is not a bad defender, and is a MUCH better shooter than ariza.

I wouldn't mind him for the minimum. Rather have him over Melo.

He can light it up but more importantly, his defense in the series against us actually surprised me.

Even more importantly, he can provide some tactical intel on the Warriors as well.

green was one of the few guys who stepped up at times for CLE in the playoffs. he also has history w/ harden as a former teammate. for the minimum it should have been a no-brainer to sign him. and to pass on him for MCW is just.... WTF

The comments on defense are interesting. A guy like Ryan Anderson is not a bad team defender. He's an average (and statistically above average) post defender. His problem is that he is BBQ chicken on a switch where he's ISO'd.

Nick Young is more similar to Gerald Green -- he is bad at defensive concepts (when to switch, when to rotate) and gets lost a lot. However, as an isolation defender, he has good length and can move his feet.

Correct. His isolation defense was pretty good against us. I was surprised to see him stay in front of his man. Considering we are switching everything on defense, that actually makes him serviceable on defense.

As for offense, unlike Ryan, we also know that he wont be afraid to take open shots.

Eh. He's a less exciting Gerald Green. Don't think he benefits this team right now. I'd rather us try and find a decent wing player to replace Trevor and Luc.

Also, I can't remember him ever missing a shot at Toyota Center.;)

I kid but he seems to shoot well on our floor.

I wonder if fans will value Nick Yang more if he just stops smiling so much

For the minimum, taking Joe Johnson's roster spot, cool.

Fringe move. That said, we still have to get to the WCF. Not everything is about beating the Warriors, we have to get there as well. Fringe moves can help in the regular season. If our bench is deep and capable maybe we buy another 1-2 wins. That could matter.

We need players who play well under local condition. Ryan Anderson is more suitable to California's milder climate.

as i recollect, Morey was offered Swaggy P for a 2nd rd pick a couple years ago - and he declined...

Where are all these guys that were gonna rush to play for us on cheap deals to beat those waskly warriors?

Where are the guys on cutrate deals bc they are chasing a ring?

Where are these guys that are willing to play for the min just to play with Harden and CP3?

That was the rumor. Chose instead to acquire 2 Girls 1 Lou for a first.

    Young > Luc
Give him the mid level exception.
    Luc was horrible in playoffs.

They both suck. Green had like 1.5 games where he put up points by hitting difficult mid rangers off the dribble. That was a once in a lifetime thing for him. Does Green suck less than MCW? Maybe. But, they both suck and I hope neither would be vital parts of our team.
