As time goes by without Luc signing, I think this becomes a higher likelihood. Despite his stats from last year, I think Melo would have a resurgence here. OKC was never a good fit...Westbrook sets the tone as a statchaser, and that's not a good environment for Melo to be in. Melo on the Rockets would always be a 3rd option, and I'm sure we would kill his midrange game, which needed to die yesterday. 41% of his shots where in the midrange last year...that wouldn't fly here, and CP3 would let him know that. The elbow fadeaways actually aren't terrible, much like Hardens weren't terrible, even though he went away from them this year in favor of the step back 3. It's the long 2s that are bad. Those made up 23% of Melos shots and he hit just 38% of them, or 0.76 pps. If he will just take a few steps back, those turn into 36% 3s at 1.08 pps...that will work. Good Melo takes catch and shoot 3s, takes slow footed bigs to the basket and can function as a secondary playmaker...that Melo is still in there, I think.
Would take butler, Middleton, and bazemore HELL NOOOO to porter and Batum with their albatross contracts. What is up with you guys suggesting more toxic waste contracts to be part of this organization. We got rid of a washed up Ariza. And are stuck with one of the worst contacts in the nba rn. The sky isn’t falling. Neither do the Rockets need to get desperate.
The real problem is none of these teams want Ryno's 2 year contract. We'd have to give an leg and an arm to move Ryno alone.
Long shot.. HUGE long shot.. BUT... question. Would you be open to a sign and trade of Clint for Haywood?? Fills a need for both, plus Boston having an abundance of wings (and the rumours about Butler preferring Boston if he were to get traded). Is there anyone decent we could pick up or trade Ryno for to fill that C spot? Alex Len? Chandler? Lopez? Henson?
Slide PJ the SF spot THEN you make a deal with Denver for Millsap. They are trying to she'd money anyway. We give them Ryno and whatever and get the last 60 mil for the next two years off their hands. 2018-2019 Houston Rockets PG - Chris Paul / MCW SG - MVP / Eric Gordon SF - PJ Tucker / Green PF - Paul Millsap / Carmelo Anthony C - Clint Capela / Nene LT would be a mother f'er for Tillman but he SHOULD get his Championship.
Morey, make Otto Porter happen! He's a career 40% 3pt shooter. He's a great rebounder. He's good defender. He's got good length (7'1" wingspan). He's a perfect fit in our system. He's over-payed, but he's definitely a starting caliber player. I think the question is, how bad does washington want to move that contract off their books. If so, i bet they're hoping to take back expiring contracts, not a guy with 2-yrs, $40+ mil left. So Morey would almost certainly have to sweeten the deal and get a 3rd team involved. Eric Gordon and Anderson for Porter is probably not too much to give up considering how bad Anderson's contract is, but with Wall and Beal, Washington is probably not all that interested in another SG. So, a Porter deal would be really complicated because we aren't a good fit for what Washington, needs.
Jackson can't be included in a trade until July 11, so Morey may be waiting on this. Anderson, Onuaku, Jackson, 1 or 2 firsts for a starting SF (or PF with Tucker moving to SF) with a similar (bad) contract. For a team going nowhere, the firsts would be the incentive to move a decent player for Anderson, contracts being a wash. No one would take him for straight cap space, and that would be useless anyways at this point, except for luxury tax purposes. I think it would probably be something like Bazemore, Carroll, Harkless/Leonard or Faried/Plumlee. Paul Millsap would be a perfect 4 with Tucker at 3. Denver is trying to save $$$.
