Though yes, I know Cod and Nene are friends, this is “friends” of the Rockets (core players). Nene has a contract that would, literally, get used as “pennies” ($3.7/year) with a deal this large. Odds of him being a deal-maker are slim. Gotta move real money in this scenario.
Trade Anderson for Melo doesn't really help us but helps OKC, let them deal with the tax, next time Presti will think twice before tring to screw Morey to look cool. They will stretch him anyway, too much money to safe to not do it...i just wonder if Melo will pick us or the Lakers at this point, not that i care much, but still. For us, it's better to use Ryan's salary to get other guy/s, Melo will eventually come for cheap if he wants and if we want him, if not life goes on.
It doesn't help OKC either. Rhyno is owed more money in total than Melo. It's a foregone conclusion at this point that he will be waived. OMG..can't wait to see the hate of Lakers fans towards Melo. He escaped the Knicks fans to go somewhere worse.
I think Melo prefers L.A. over Houston, i think he would 90% start here, not as sure he starts iun L.A, depends on whether they get Kawhi or not, but would they start him over Ingram anyway? Good question...i guess yes if Lebron say so lol. Personally i think there's a better chance he picks L.A also cause there's no MDA there and cause he might very think ala Cousins like "you didn't trade for me one year ago when i wanted to be there? Screw you". @malakas true, they won't even save money in the long run, just "a bit" this season so, probably they're not interest either.
Melo getting bought out of OKC and slipping into the vacant Rockets starting SF slot for the vet minimum is where it’s at on Clutch Fans these days. It’s the new LeBron opts in and gets traded to Houston for a package involving Ryno. #realtalk #keepingupwiththeclutchfans
This opens up a world of religious themed puns if (aka when) we sign him. Finally some positive news this free agency.
Disagree, Melo is an expiring contract and is still viewed and is a better player than Ryan Anderson. That is a splash RA is a better player than some give him credit for but the timing of his contract will make it one of the worst contracts in Rockets history. All this said Houston would prefer to trade Anderson for him than to have duke it out with LA for his services if He's waived.
I don't see him in LA honestly. There's not a path to him starting there, on the other hand, there is a path to him starting in Houston and he'd be on a better team that could make him look good for the first time in years.
I can see what you're saying, but Melo being expiring doesn't help us at this point, literally makes no difference since we will not have cap space next summer anyway. Plus, Anderson being a two year contract with no trade clause still give us a big contract to move for trade purpose, which is the only way we can eventually upgrade at this point, it will also save some tax since it's still 7M cheaper so, yeah, while i do agree that Melo is better as a player, all things considered i don't think it would be a good move to trade Ryan for him, assuming OKC does that deal which is all but certain.
Melo with Harden and Paul would be perfect. This isn't Donovans offensively challenged team. This isn't Westbrooks bad basketball IQ leading the way. Melo would definitely get more open shots in this system. Melo is easily an Ariza replacement especially on offense. I'm all in on Melo.
Ariza isn't there for offense, he almost 100% there for defense and playing the passing lane for steals. Melo provides negative value in that category
