By now, it should be obvious that our starting SF isn't coming from the free agent market. Remaining free agents include: James Ennis Richard Jefferson Michael Beasley Luke Babbitt Bruno Caboclo Josh Huestis you get the point. I'd rather we start Gordon than any of these guys, but I don't think that is in the plans. Our starting SF should come via trade. But before we start throwing a bunch of names around, a few qualifications are in order: 1) SF is a premium position across the league. Stars demand a kings ransom, and quality starters aren't much cheaper. 2) We aren't going to play someone that can't shoot, and more importantly, defend. Below is a rough, unscientific guess at players who could be our targets along with brief explanations of why they could be available: Jimmy Butler - Last year of his deal. Kent Bazemore - We tried to sign him 2 years ago. Nic Batum - Charlotte tearing down? Otto Porter Jr. - Believe. Just believe. Washington scared of taxes? Kelly Oubre Jr. - Blocked by Otto Porter. Khris Middleton - Last year of contract. Among these, I think the most likely option is Kent Bazemore. A deal would likely include Anderson, young players and a pick for Bazemore. Butler is option A, and I wouldn't be surprised if we are all-in on him. He finished 4th in real plus minus last year behind Harden, CP3 and Steph. Think about that...landing Butler would give the Rockets 3 of the top 4 players in the league in plus minus.
Right now I’d take a James Ennis and Bjelica......waiting for Wayne Ellington and Luc MaM to run out of options
Slide Tucker over to SF and start Ryan so he can build up his trade value/start earning his money. By the grace of the basketball gods, with half the year gone, he can more easily be moved come trade deadline time and get reinforcements. Ryan is fine in the regular season, it’s just come playoff time can’t really play him. As we know and saw.
Someone I think is worth keeping an eye on depending on how their seasons goes: Danny Green. If the Spurs get young players back in any Kawhi trade, perhaps they look to move on from Green and obtain picks in case he chooses to depart in the off-season. Continue the rebuild. I mean...which of our young players SA would want, I have no idea. None of them look appealing...
I think Rockets should look to acquire the best SF or PF Tucker & Green can play the 3. Gordon will get plenty of minutes on the court with CP3 & Harden, with Tucker getting minutes at the 4. The remaining MLE after signing the 2nd Rd’s beyond 2 years on Luc or a top FA would be nice for the bench There’s a trade coming with Ryno and some of these young developing players I feel
I’ve calmed down about at started to view things wit a more optimistic lens, and what if we just promote eg to the starting lineup and move James harden to the 3. This lineup on the court together was very effective, gerald green steps into the sniper off the bench roll, a key I believe is signing the prince back. I think an additional option we should look into is Wayne Ellington and Kyle O’Quinn. We are still in this thing eff the warriors!!!!!
Rockets wouldn't have let Ariza walk (1 year $15 million) if DeMare Carroll was their only other option (1 year $15.5 million).
we then have a problem with having a true 6th man that can rely upon themselves to play the game and not having to lean on harden or cp3. nobody really comes to mind to replace that role at the moment
I’ve come to terms with Eric Gordon starting. We just don’t have the money to make competitive offers for a starter, and the talent pool is drying up. I will count on Morey to make some diamond in the rough deals because he’s earned that respect. He did find Luc late, so I guess I’ll keep things in perspective....for now!
well shouldn't limiting minutes of hou's older team be one of the highlights. especially the pg who posters are complaining about signing his contract
True. But Dantoni does offset CP3 and Harden’s minutes, so that does somewhat alleviate the need for Gordon’s 6th man role.
Sign me up for Caboclo as 3rd string development. Not ready yet, not going to say that STUPID thing everyone says about him, but he's only 22. Plenty of time to develop. On the note of a Brazilian, Lucas Nogueira should be our patchwork center. Nene to work with him, Capela's backup. Plenty of time to develop, he's 25. That's for 2nd/3rd string. Butler would be a fun and productive get. Unlike Gordon, Butler is a natural 3. Gordon is probably included in any Butler trade though, so poo. Luc is a fine stop-gap at the 3 and I hope we 'run it back'. We can run PJ there but I prefer him at the 4 and against small centers he can play the 5.
You're faith in Ryan Anderson is so ridiculously delusional I can't comprehend it. Trade him or cut him is the best choice
