That's why I don't see many big offers for him. How much is a one year rental of one of the most injury prone players in the NBA worth? To the Rockets, Thunder, or Celtics, probably a decent amount because he'd likely pick up that option in those places, but elsewhere?
Houston will have a first round pick, Eric Gordon, and Ryan Anderson's expiring during next off season. I think you can get someone to take the bait on that for a first. You will open up your cap space for a Jimmy Butler(or someone else) after you get rid of the former pelican duo and sign Capela for a discount this summer. I think next summer is when the big splash occurs. I don't see it happening this summer, but they can compete with a healthy luc.
"They can compete with a healthy luc." They can win it this year. Morey is patient. He gets guys that he had been going after for years. He will actually have some flexibility next summer. The expectation to overhaul the team now is ludicrous. There isn't flexibility to do so.
I found this in realgm "BTW, Cowley is a legit source for Jimmy. If it came from Cowley, it came from Jimmy." So it is indeed confirmed. Now why Butler wants this out right now...?
Probably because his team got destroyed by the Rockets, notably Minny's prized center getting thoroughly undressed by Capela.
whatever was written in the chicago newspaper is from Jimmy. Whatever is added from Bleacher Report is most likely BS.
Here's the article from Cowley: https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports...uld-have-plans-to-try-and-take-over-the-east/ Also in there is that Butler knew Kryie wanted out out Cleveland before anyone else and told the Bulls who realized they couldn't get him. He wants to play with Kyrie.
Yeah but the Celtics nor the Lakers have someone like Ryno to swap for Gorgui. Not at all an asset but if the rumor that the price to get Butler is to absorb Gorgui, would either the Lakers or the Celtics be able to make the salarys work in a swap? In the hypothetical scenario of EG+Ryno+several picks (2-3 firsts?) for JB+Gorgui, Minnesota improves their shooting and spacing, picks up a replacement for Bjelica while getting off the bad contract (Ryno now instead of Dieng) 1 year sooner. Ryno isn’t good but he’s a better fit next to KAT than Dieng. Who else is desperate enough to take on Dieng too?
Any team could use Atlanta or Chicago to facilitate the trade by absorbing Gieng. Philly could trade Covington for Butler almost straight up with Dieng going to ATL with a pick or something.
