    That's still an irregular job. MCW turned it down last year. He's only taking it now because he has no other option. If you are young enough or good enough to think you can get another contract you want to have some reasonable guarantee that you'll get regular playing time of some level to put up stats and get another deal.

    MCW is on the verge of being out of the league.

    Morey is an overrated GM. What is new? Guy cant think outside his little analytical box and its costing the rockets good players. Smh

    Then why didn't we sign him to a multi year deal if he was our best free agent option?

    He's just a guy, maybe he even survives camp, but the Rockets do not view him as a player of any significance.

    Does not fit our scheme at all. Terrible shooter and an aloof defender. He’s past the days of him still having untapped potential. Terrible pickup, I would have rather used Melton in that role.

    Agreed. If you are going to sign him anyway, why not wait a week or two. Its not like we were competing with other teams to sign him. And even if someone did sign him first, who cares, sign some other non-shooting guard.

    It's a minimum contract. Melton will have a chance to win time over MCW, but also keep in mind the minutes will be extremely limited. Melton can get regular playing time for RGV or he can sit 3 out of 5 nights and play 5 minutes a night the other two. That's about all MCW is guaranteed if he makes the team. Maybe he earns more.

    Hornets fans on RealGM love the guy.

    The reason was that he singlehandedly lost some games for them to help the tank.
