The Rockets would still likely have a hefty luxury tax bill even if they waived and stretched Anderson. Just a lot less hefty than if they didn’t. But that comes with other complications, including (probably) the inability to waive and stretch the final year of CP3’s contract ($44.2 million, when he’s 36 years old) if they needed/wanted to. Not saying that they WOULD do that. Just that they probably want to retain the flexibility to do that if absolutely necessary.

That RA contract is one of the worst. You really think RA improved this offense? NOT

well its no coincidence the offense took off after the addition of a true stretch 4 compared to the likes these other fake stretch 4s they had for years everyone can look at him at this point in time and easily say other wise but it took the two previous years to get to this point and you dont just wipe that. Things change. the teams priority has changed more to a defensive mindset. Unfortunately, that leaves guys who aren't that versatile on the floor out of this gameplan.

The only thing RA stretches is his arms to put on hairspray

Yep. RA signing was a BAD deal <period> and he needs to get out of it to save face.

Hrm. I understand that RA's crappy contract prevents us from signing real talent. Not sure what you gather from it.

    Not a chance in hell
Ryan *has* some value on this team - He just needs to get his mojo back - I refuse to believe that the ZERO he was in the playoffs is who he is . .. I think he will get SOME of it back this season and build up enough good will to be traded at the deadline or as an expiring next summer

We have no cap space with Anderson's contract on the books. We're far enough over the cap that even if we remove Anderson's contract, we're still over the cap. Zero cap space either way.

It's possible. Let's see what Clint gets. If nothing else materializes and Ryno's contract is the difference in whether we pay luxury tax...

The Rockets have dead weight contracts and could use shooting at the 4!!

Oh wait. Never mind. Damn, it's like we're stuck in a loop.

Absolutely. If there's anything we've learned about Morey, its that he plays the long game and is willing to hold onto big contracts with hopes of engineering trade deadline deals. Could easily see that happening next season. Chances are we hold onto RA and give him minutes off the bench this year in a 6th-man type of role and insurance in case PJ gets hurt.

It's easy to hate on Anderson. A lot of people neglected the fact that he actually still shot 38% from 3, even with the struggle during the second half of the season. He just somehow lost all his confidence and passed up open shots. And not being able to play the switch defense doesn't help. That pretty much made him unplayable.

I think Morey is going to get rid of him one way or another.
