Wife and I are headed up there Wednesday. We have been a couple years ago but that was in Jan/Feb. I grew up in Montana and used to go to Denver a lot but it was clear to me a couple years ago that it had changed. Obviously the legal weed is a big thing but Denver was also seemingly getting younger and a bit more vibrant. Especially in regards to art and food. I always remember going when I was a kid and teen and thinking it was a butthole.

Anyway... We are going to see some stand up on Friday and may go the Rockies game on Wednesday night. Other than that we are wide open if you have any suggestions. Most pointedly, trying to figure out the best day trip type of drive up a mountain or into a national park (IE RMP). A friend of mine highly recommended Estes Peak? We were thinking about driving to Pikes Peak. Also thinking about spending a day near Colorado Springs/Manitou? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

My favorite thing to do in Denver is leave Denver and go straight to the mountains... and stay there until it's time to fly out.

I've lived in Denver for 4 years, Colorado for 10. A few suggestions from me would be:

Day Trip Hikes: St. Mary's Glacier, Flatirons in Boulder, Manitou and Garden of the Gods in the Springs, any of the 14ers (Mt Evans, Quandary, Grays, etc) Grizzley Peak and Torrey peak along the continental divide. The big resort towns should have activities every day too during the summer and you can hike up the ski trails (Breck, Vail, Beav, etc). Estes Park is ok, out of towners seem to love it, I think its kind of boring and not something I ever go and see. I would also use that Thursday as your mountain day, especially if you are heading into the central mountains. I-70 is an absolute nightmare on the weekends and trails are overly crowded.

Restaurants: Rioja, Acorn, Mizu, Sushi Ronin, Vinh Xuong Bakery, Roaming Buffalo, The Bindery, Linger, Blue Oyster, Odyssey, Vesta, Cho 77, Gozo, Comida

Bars: Curio, Terminal Bar, Historians, Rino Yact Club, Finn's Manor, Herb's, Recess Beer Garden, Mile High Spirits, Rhein Haus, B&GC.

Breweries: Platt Park Brewery, Denver Beer Co., Crooked Stave, Ratio Beerwerks, Great Divide, Stranahan Whiskey Distillery

Museums/Art: Clyfford Still Museum, Denver Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, The Dikeou Collection

Other Suggestions: Take an edible and see something at Red Rocks, fishing (lots of places), Botanical Gardens, take a boat out on Lake Dillon, and there are always a handful of events/fairs/markets/festivals every Saturday downtown which you will likely stumble upon.

Don'ts: Coors Brewery Tour, Blackhawk Casinos, eat anywhere on 16th Street, do anything in Colorado Springs unless its nature related.

Larimer Square is a great place downtown. The restaurants and bars are amazing, plus there's a deli that's a great place to shill during the day. If you're going to see comedy, the Comedy Works is one of the best in the country. First hand knowledge. Have fun! I love Denver.

I am in Denver now, about to fly back from a week at RMNP. If you are doing one hike, do Emerald Lake from the Bear Lake Trailhead. It is massively crowded so get there late, like 5.30 or 6 pm. Should be easy parking and will be a lot cooler.

I’m in Montana right now! As for Denver, I have to second Red Rocks......totally amazing venue; incredible experience.

I have heard the edibles are really good, are they very potent? I am wondering if you have to take a lot or does one brownie do the trick? My GF are going later this summer and she doesn't smoke but I think she would like the edibles

Lots of stories in the news about people OD’ing on edibles (or at least feeling like they’ve OD’d). I’d say that if she’s willing, let HER talk to someone at the pot place, explain her level of experience and get a recommendation on how much to take. Take it at a place where she feels safe, and the WAIT. The big problem seems to be people taking some, not feeling anything fairly soon, and then taking more (and sometimes more again). Then it all hits them later, and they freak out.

I would just ask the budtenders at the dispensary. They can recommend how much to take. They usually come in 10mg pieces, 1 is usually more than enough for someone that doesn't have it regularly. I think the baked stuff like brownies and cookies don't taste very good. Chocolate Bars and gummie candy tend to be a lot more edible.

Bigfork.......on Flathead Lake. Not a native.....but we fell in love with it while doing a rotation in Calgary. Not as easy to get up here now that we're back in Houston, but we do our best.

Nice! I was in Bigfork a couple of summers back with my brother and his wife. Chartered a boat for the day on Flathead and went to the Summer theatre at night. Great little summer town. Have a good time here!

umm, Wednesday is 4th of July

That's the day to go to Red Rocks...not a Rockies game. Especially if you like Blues. G-Love and Special Sauce is under-card.

When fireworks all over downtown Denver start, you will have a great view to see the entire city light up.

The dosage is different for everything. But this is a mature industry. They will tell you exactly how many milligrams are in each dose of each edible.

Just ask questions. They only allow a certain amount of ppl into the "showroom" area at a time. One of the reasons is so each customer feels comfortable to ask questions and gets good service. Ppl don't mind sitting in the waiting room.

You can tour Pepsi Arena. I've been to Denver a couple times the last 3 years, not a 4/20 guy so I have no input on that. There were a couple nice hookah bars though! My wife and I enjoyed walking around downtown and checking out the local spots in and around Denver. VOO DOO Donuts! Honestly we never stayed long enough to do any outdoorsy stuff like hiking or skiing. But we did go to Red Rock Amphitheater which was badass!
