I agree, he's a good replacement for EG but EG is still currently on this team. As long as he doesn't choose the Warriors, I'm fine with him going to another Western team. If it's OKC, they just have to buyout Melo. Their cap situation is absolutely atrocious. Besides, we have more pressing needs at starting and backup SF, a true 3rd point guard to spell CP3, and a replacement for Nene. He's toast IMO.
@malakas Who says no? Hou in: Otto Porter Jr Atl in: Ryan Anderson, 1st round picks Wash: Dedmon, Onuaku, HOU 2nd rd pick
Right, the question is just how much do they really want to save salary. If they do, I feel like a "dump" is the only way Porter is moved.
18 mil? But for someone with his injuries it's very very risky to take only 2 years. He's only 26 years old. Probably noone else was much interested.
I feel like every off season is very underwhelming for us(yes even the CP3 one for us) and everyone sleeps on us. Then the next season we come out and shatter expectations. Hers hoping we can do that next year.
Porter makes $27m/year. They will dump him on us, while we send Anderson to Atlanta. Rockets will also send a 1st to ATL (or two and snag Bazemore) and a 2nd to DC.
Washington. They will have to trade away Porter for sure in the future. Their owner is quite rich but the team is failling. IF Grunfeld was smart then he would keep him this year and next summer when many teams would have capspace and nowhere to spend it, trade him for either a low first to someone desperate or another young player. Wings are a rare commodity. If for some reason, Washington does well this year in the playoffs he won't get traded though.
My initial thought is the same, Washington shouldn't dump him. I mean they definitely shouldn't. The only thing that rekindled my hopes here is that Windhorst said he's available on a podcast today. I'm HOPING that the owner wants to cut salary now lol. That's the only way the deal makes sense for them of course. Long term I think they just have a bad mix. John Wall isn't a superstar.
But why dump rising talent like Porter for nothing in return? Dedmon and a 2nd is pretty much nothing. Onuaku is next to nothing. Plus it is PG position that they have too many bodies not enough minutes, not SF.
Since we're all going towards crazy town on Otto (present company included ) 1st transaction: Houston S&T Ariza to Phoenix Washington trades Mahimi to Houston Phoenix trades Chandler to Washington 2nd transaction: Houston trades Anderson and 2 1st Rounders to Washington for Porter Jr. Washington gets a starting Center, moves Porter's contract (freeing up the starting role for Oubre), picking up 2 1sts to use their capspace to absorb (and then waive) anderson. They also rid themselves of Mahimi's contract. Call me crazy!
Tolliver signing with Minnesota. Another guy that would be a potential fit here. This all feels like they have something already lined up, whatever that be. (even if they just know they are re-signing Mbah a Moute and Ennis)
