That's because we are waiting for the scraps. The Rockets don't have the money to pay players what they want and players aren't gonna choose Houston right away for the vet min.
The Rockets can offer the taxpayer MLE and a starting role at SF on a contending team. That's something. The question is, what teams have money that are willing to spend? Might be smaller than you think. What teams have cap room? What teams have the FULL MLE? The Rockets can be pretty competitive with teams that have the TaxPayer MLE since the ROLE/Minutes on a contending team are pretty attractive.
I don't really see Evans starting at the 3 but that's just me i guess. As for the money i think different teams might be willing to offer him the full MLE, maybe even more for one/two years, maybe not contenders but still.
And his sad face is ? The other big men are being scooped up and he's not getting an offer? Wouldn't the rest of the league be silly to not throw the bank at him and force the Rockets to match ? Dude is no Parsons. It's not going to backfire on anyone. Either they get a GREAT PnR player and tough defender, or the Rockets happily match an offer the dude deserves....
