I remember when we tried pursuing him a couple of years ago he had a very solid reputation. He is small even for the 3 , however he has a pretty big wingspan. I think D is his strength , but he will probably not be able to guard big 4's . On offense he can't get as hot as Anderson , but probably is more consistent and has the ability to put the ball on the floor . He is undoubtedly a better player than Ryan because Ryan can't pull his head out of his ass . But he definitely doesn't play the same role . He's much closer to an Ariza replacement.
UPDATED Wings Available - Dante Cunningham KCP Corey Brewer Wayne Ellington James Ennis Kyle Anderson Jeff Green Rodney Hood RFA Wesley Johnson Mike Scott Lance Stephenson GRIII - signed with DET LMAM Treveon Graham
HELL NO!!! He plays no D and coming out of college he was supposed to be a D specialist. He disappears for entire games. Truly disappointing player with that much potential. That contract was a nightmarish mistake of biblical proportions. They could not lose him for nothing but he has hamstrung their future.
I'll assume we can't find a trade for R. Anderson until the trade deadline. Pipe dreams (for full MLE) KCP: a younger, better version of Ariza Tyreke Evans: a 3rd ball-handler and passer in the starting lineup. Realistic options (for part or full MLE) JJ Redick: shooter, moves without the ball, CP3 relationship Luc Mbah Moute: knowledge of defensive schemes, great rotational player prior to injury Minimum deals: James Ennis: low risk, high upside Michael Carter-Williams: don't hate this for 5-10 minutes of playoff defense and length. Offensive limitations irrelevant with Harden/Paul/Gordon on the floor. Anthony Tolliver: poor man's LMM, better shooter, average defender Kyle O'Quinn: verrry underrated defensively. A huge upgrade to Nene. On Ariza leaving: I don't think people realize Ariza was not part of the best playoff lineups last season. The team is now instantly better if you just move Gordon into the third guard spot. Don't think this will happen, but the traditional notions of wings/SFs doesn't really apply in the Rockets system.
I have a feeling he will sign someone we get pissed about, a nobody and then maybe a good player. I have a feeling Mbah a Moute will either get taken by someone crazy enough to offer a 1-year deal in the range of 5-10 million or minimum deal here.
Seems like Hezonja is getting a portion of the MLE...interesting. Oh, we should sign Lance just to play him against Lebron lol.
