idk but it seems like Dwight is going to take the MLE to play for the Warriors. Rich keep getting richer.
hawks have openly said they want to use cap space to take on bad contracts with picks. they won't make an offer to capela unless its to do his agent a favor so he sends some of his other clients that way in the future. highly unlikely. magic said if they miss on superstars this summer they will save their cap for next summer. capela isn't in their plans at all. the bulls and kings seem likely for his agent to find an offer sheet in the 12-18M range. clint's options will be to (a) sign a long term deal for the most money he can get this summer, (b) sign a 1+1 deal in the 12-18M range so he gets a big raise now and can decide to try FA again next summer, (c) accept the QO so he will be UFA next year but barely a raise this year. i'd say he goes with option B.
Is it possible for the Rockets and Capela to come to terms on a multi year deal before he signs an offer sheet from another team?
If he goes with B or C it might be worthwhile to S&T him to a team that doesn’t have enough cap space and needs a center. That opens his market up. That way we don’t have to worry about the next years FA and him getting crazy money or losing him for nothing. We get a pretty good asset and use it to plug our hole at SF. Pick up a cheaper replacement at center.
if the rockets can talk him into a 1+1 deal for under $15M (i dont think he finds more money in the FA market this summer, plus its still a big raise this year and a chance to make more by opting out next year) they can conceivably avoid the hard cap in a S&T for lebron. not having to pay ariza combined with clint's market drying up might save the rockets enough money to make it an option.
i don't mind him going to worriers, we can finally use hack a dwight in the playoffs plus he's a cancer in the locker room
I ran the numbers. It’d be really tight and depending on how cheap you get Capela for LBJ would still need to probably take a small cut to make it work.
i would do a S&T for him anyway! the warriors don't need a center. i would go after KOQ with the MLE to replace him, then look to trade clint for a borderline allstar like he is. tobias harris, middleton...
i mean that's probably what they are meeting with him to discuss today. when have you ever seen morey meet with a RFA?! he usually says go find your best offer and we'll match. he's trying to say look at the market right now. the bulls, lets say, are your only chance at $12M. we'll give you $13 on a 1+1 so you get more than you could this summer and get a chance at trying again next year and we can still get lebron. or take $18M on a 3-4 year deal.
On paper i only see the Hawks as a potential suitor, but seems like the Hawks want bad contracts with assets in thier cap space, and they'll tank for at least a couple of years, they already have a PG, a SF and a PF (Young, Prince and Collins). They also have the Mavs pick in the next draft, i expect them to draft a C and a SG, don't really see them throw a big contract to a role player at this point. As for the Lakers, if they strike out on big names now, i still think they'll wait for the next summer so...i don't expect them to go after Clint.
