and stretch his $40 million salary over 5 years? That would create about $12 million in cap space this year and could essentially save money on luxury tax.

It appears adding Ariza at $8 mill could add about $27 million or so in luxury tax costs. So waiving Anderson would not only save that $27 million but create an addition $4 million to use. Or can still have that luxury tax bill by using that $12 towards another player.

Nope. Next year he becomes a 21m expiring, that’s big.

How the **** did Ryan Anderson get this deal in the first place? Like, he was never worth this much even in his best days .

believe me. there were plenty on this board that defended that contract; Morey defended it... "don't look at the number". well ....that number has haunted my dreams ever since the day we let our desperation get the better of us by making that deal.

It wouldn't add $12 million (or anything) in cap space, because the Rockets are over the cap either way.

Swallowing your mistakes is a big part of success later down the line.

Ryan Anderson becomes a big trade chip next year and may allow Morey to grab a first rounder.

20 ppg, 6 rebounds, 41% from downtown. No drama.

    Yes he was.

I'm sorry, I really don't follow NBA salaries and how they are structured and the bargaining negotiations behind it.

it can also be thanked for GS being able to fit KD on the team with minimal issues...

this is where the money is "dry" now is coming from.

They spent all that money on RA and could have kept Beasley for a fraction of the cost and could have at least used Beasley for the playoffs. One of Morey's worst moves yet along with that whole Royce White thing.

lol keeping sorry Beasley. No everyone should of been sick of having fake stretch 4s on the roster. if one of his worst moves according to you, was a significant improvement on offense as a whole then hes definitely done a great job.

This board was in favor of Ryno bigtime, and he was on Moreys radar for a long time

While I have sooooooo respect for Morey, he is my favorite GM by far.. it really boggled my mind because to me it was so obvious that Ryno was just way too slow for the system Morey and our organization wanted to play.

I tried to say it, I tried to scream it. I did so for many months, because Ryno was a discussion piece for a year or two until it finally panned out.

To this day, I'll never understand why Morey thought so highly of him. He is too smart to have just thought it was because he could hit the 3. His weaknesses are glaring, but his weaknesses also wouldn't be so bad on another teams roster. However, for the direction & pace of play our team desired, his particular weaknesses are catastrophic.

There was still debate back then of whether a 5-out offense was realistic or whether it was just a Steph Curry aberration. So Ryno’s size was still valuable for help defense against traditional offenses. It’s different now, as big men were exposed left and right vs us and GS. Even Clint is only playable vs GS because he is fast enough to switch onto small players.

Ryno was the beginning of the Rockets’ 3pt shooting big man offense. Unfortunately for him, the Rockets figured out that this shooting big man didn’t even have to be big.
