This is a stupid debate. you could name the top 20 biggest companies and that wouldn't make your argument.

That's like saying hey, if i show you 3 people are black, it means the majority of people are black as well. It's stupid logic and you are showing yourself to be a very stupid person

you still haven't named one co that support your claim !

it is on you to provide evidence in support of your claim; ur avoiding it.

from this, i can only infer that you have no idea what ur talking about

more eg of cos who have announced that they will increase spending in 2018
    • Netflix will more than double their 2017 spending to develop more content, in order to accentuate its e adopter advantage in the streaming space
    • Disney and Comcast are in a bidding war, in the Billions, to acquire Fox assets, in order to compete against Netflix in the streaming space. the loser of this bidding war will, most probably, buy other available assets out there
    • as of June AT&T has already exceeded 2017 spending; mostly it's due to its acquisition of Time Warner, a horizontal merger
    • Uber and Lyft are beefing up their privacy protection measures, just to keep up w FB. GOOGL and TWTR
    • in its recent shareholders meeting, Microsoft CEO announced that the co is on pace to out-spent last yr in order to further enhance its competitive position in cloud computing and AI
    • AMZN announced that it will spend more to integrate Whole Food into its business operation; also spending more to build/develop the 2nd Headquarter
that makes my list of 11 mega companies whose actions support my position

i am still waiting for Sweet Lou to name his first co that supports his position

if you work in the investment banking community, then you should know about

this new $ Billion partnership / joint venture between Amazon, JP Morgan and Birkshire Hathaway, formed
to tackle rising health-care costs in the US. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/20/buf...f-their-newly-formed-health-care-company.html
like other business entities not impacted by global trade wars, this JV will be spending $ billions in the immediate future

In the same vein, Amazon just announced that it has spend ~ $ 1 Billion to buy an online pharmacy
    even Trump can't stop this

I wonder how much Trump has invested in Steel. I could see a situation where the trade war benefits his pocketbook

    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/pol...l-list-of-retaliatory-tariffs-on-us-goods-on/

Canada Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland just announced that retaliatory tariff against imported steel from the US
    will be effective 1 July

The ill-conceived global trade war poses the greatest uncertainty to the US economy, arguably, it is the biggest contributor
to the flattening of the yield curve, not so much this myopic / perfunctory view

Caught in the middle of the half-assed tariff war, GM warns

Trump's tariffs 'undermine our ability to compete'

unlike FaceBook, Amazon, Twitter, Google, and others, Cos like GM and Harley Davidson are deeply affected by the tariffs.

"Increased import tariffs could lead to a smaller GM, a reduced presence at home and abroad for this iconic American company, and
risk having less U.S. jobs," the GM spokesperson said.

"The threat of steep tariffs on vehicle and auto component imports risks undermining GM’s competitiveness against foreign auto producers
by erecting broad brush trade barriers that increase our global costs, remove a key means of competing with manufacturers in lower - wage countries, and promote a trade environment in which we could be retaliated against in other markets."

Three internet based companies that will not be affected on any tarrifffs.
I have not paid attention to your argument much but Those three companies caught my interest

I suspect companies like Lyft, Uber and AirBnB
will be like wise insulated from tarriffs . . .the costs will be consumed by the users/person doing the work
    not the overall 'company'

The future of the U S is these type of soft quasi companies
where they don't actually 'own' much that is vunerable to tariffs etc.

it'd behoove you to re-state your facts-free claim

here are the facts; facts that people who works in the Investment Banking community should know

GDP growth in Q1 of 2018, the Trump administration’s final numbers were lower than it estimated.
In fact, the 2% growth reported on June 28 represented the worst figures since early 2017.

good that you pick up my point.

Sweet Lou had cut n pasted some verbiage that assumes all co are affected by the tariff war.

they're real companies that provide real service to consumers and businesses.

they own powerful platforms online, worth > billions of $, that connect customers/service providers/advertisers, etc.

12 pack of beer is $2 more expensive than it was 3 weeks ago.

This is serious business now, thanks for the tax cut and all but.....
