Idk where you got your information in spring training, but the date is typically in early June. Given you were off by a month, and Super 2 is not always a well understood concept, I thought I'd give a more thorough explanation to avoid further confusion.

I think Kyle Tucker will be call up July 1st on Monday. When the Astros play the Rangers in a 2 game road trip before a long homestand. There is nothing else Kyle Tucker needs to prove in the minors.

J.B. Bukauskas made his first rehab appearance in the GCL today:

1.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 K; all five hits he allowed were singles.

Patrick Mathis, the Astros' 22nd-round pick last year from UT, was also released.

Ernesto Jaquez, a Dominican RHP who signed for $95,000 last July 2, walked one and struck out four over five shutout innings in the DSL today.

Jaquez hasn't allowed a hit in his last 13.2 innings pitched.

OF Cesar Cortez was also released. Still 6 guys they've announced as signed who are not on a roster: Paulino, Salazar, Schroeder, Freure, Roach, and Gross. Plus 3 that haven't signed that are expected to: Billingsly, Daniels, and France. I'd expect the 3 CWS guys to be DL'ed and not pitch this year so they don't need roster spots, and the trade deadline will likely create 3-4 spots, so we may not see that many more releases this season.

There may be visa related delays for Salazar, Freure, and Paulino.

Did the team ever disclose his injury?

Good point. For now there are only 32 active guys on the Tri-City roster, so 3 can be added there, and there are 34 on the GCL roster, which leaves a spot for Schroeder.

    ^^see post #1565

    In Palm Beach...

    - Deury Carrasco finished 4-5 (homer shy of the cycle), drove in two, and stole a base (3).
    - Freudis Nova went 2-5 with a double, drove in two, and scored twice.
    - Wilyer Abreu went 3-4 with a double, two RBI, and scored a run; he's hitting .394 through the first 10 games of the GCL season.

So much talent on that GCL roster and it’s showing up in the early going. I do wonder why Perez hasn’t been playing. But Perry, N Rodriguez, Nova, H Martinez, Carrasco, J Perez and Abreu have all hit well in the small sample so far. And I expect Cueta, Y Ramirez, and J Ramirez to come around shortly. Most talent I can recall ever seeing at one time on a GCL roster.

Abraham Toro just hit his 13th HR. How bout Matt Chapman as a ceiling comp for him?

Miguelangel Sierra hit his 7th. Javy Baez? Prolly overly optimistic even for a ceiling.

How is his defense at third? He's switched around positions hasn't he?

I'll take it. I love Chapman as far as young 3B go. He's a player.

He started as a 3B in pro ball and then the Astros experimented to see if he could play catcher last season. That plan has been nixed.

Matt Chapman is one of the best defensive third basemen in the last couple of decades. Not sure Toro can duplicate that.
