The trade was Sampson for drexler and the number 2 pick.

The Lakers are lining up the Kawhi Leonard trade.

    He’s right in their sights.

They’re locked in, they’re winding up now.

Here they go, full speed ahead.

They’re on track, they’re looking good.

Eyes on the prize now, just gotta make contact here...

    Ooh so close...

We could have drafted Drexler the year before instead of Rodney McCray. That would have been the other dynasty team.

OK, so I tracked down who the exec was: Jim Foley. It was the coin toss, not the draft. Here are a couple of versions of the original story, about the "Akeem" shirt:

    http://www.chicagonow.com/medium-ra...-about-michael-jordan-and-the-1984-nba-draft/
When Houston won the No. 1 pick, Bondy writes that Rockets PR guy Jim Foley "tore off his jacket and dress shirt, like Clark Kent crammed into a phone booth, to reveal a T-shirt underneath that proclaimed in large block letters 'AKEEM.'"

    https://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rocketsrsquo_legendary_voice-267615-34.html
"I went to the coin flip with the owner, Charlie Thomas, in 1983," Foley said. "Under my coat and tie, I wore a Sampson t-shirt. I went bananas when we won the flip and I did the same thing at next coin flip. I wore a Hakeem t-shirt."

I haven't found the other part, about him wearing another shirt under that shirt, which was supposedly in case they didn't get Hakeem. I might be misremembering what I read.

That's far out, whether there was the shirt underneath or not. Jim Foley, "Oh, mother!" (6/22/94)

I hope they put this on eBay. I'll buy it just for nostalgia sake.

Don't rule Lebron out just yet. There still a chance he signs for a lot less money here. Rockets just need to find a way to get rid of Anderson and not take back salary.

They can use those marketing materials for fuel in the third world (or in the first world I guess).
