There is nothing anyone can say that will sway this opinion of yours so I will not try. That being said I was responding to a Deckard post about Jorge apologizing if Trump is found to be a Russian spy or whatever the left seem to think he is. I simply asked if Deckard will apologize if that is found to be untrue.

Supreme Court will be ruling on a case that might protect trump from state crime prosecution...

National Review makes a strong argument in favor of Amy Coney Barrett to be the next Supreme Court Justice. She is well qualified, she is quite young, and she is a passionate Catholic believer and a mother of seven children.

She looks like a great choice to me, and one that would be very hard for the Democrat left to oppose. That being said, when Judge Barrett was appointed to the seventh circuit court of appeals, Diane Feinstein made some snarky comments to her about her Catholic faith. Apparently Catholics are fine, as long as they are not believing Catholics.

Anyway, this nomination will provide the Democrats a very public opportunity to reveal their anti-religious litmus tests and for some of them to out themselves as the anti-Christian bigots that some of them are.

You do realize that our country is supposed to operate on the notion of separation of Church and State, right?

Adding her being a passionate Catholic believer as a qualification is very anti-American. You're not supposed to bring your religious beliefs to the bench so if anything her passionate Catholic beliefs should be a disqualifier if she's going to let it get in the way of her decision making.

Separation of Church and State does not mean what you seem to think that it means. According to you, anyone who is not effectively an athiest would be banned from serving in the government.

Actually, anyone who believes that Christians should be discriminated against because of their religious beliefs is an anti-Christian bigot, plain and simple.

How long has Barret been a Judge?

The answer is 1 year.... she has been a Judge for one year and you want her on the Supreme Court for what is likely the next 30 years?

    Of course you do.

No, according to me we should not be making rules based on your bible. I don't want to live by your Christian laws. Thanks.

I don't care about her religion, I DO CARE if she decides that gays can't be married because her book said so. It's not an extreme idea. You waving the flag (and this article) about how she's a good Catholic woman and how DARE Feinstein for wondering if she could separate her faith from law is very very anti-American. The founders are rolling over in their grave.

I'm black. 99% of my family is Christian. I'm agnostic. I don't want to live in a country where SCOTUS cases are determined by the bible before the constitution.

My guess is if Barret was a devout Muslim you wouldn't be celebrating her faith and using it as a qualification for her.

About a year. Before that, she was a teacher at Notre Dame Law School for 15 years. It is a better background than Obama's, that is for sure.

She is not going to decided that homosexuals should not be married, as that is not a question that is going to come before the court. However, she may decide that the rationale for Obergfell was spurious, which it was. If her and four other justices agree on that point, then Obergfell will be overturned, and the issue will revert to the states.

Overturning Obergfell would not make same-sex "marriage" illegal. It will be up to the states to make that determination. Clearly, some will say it is legal and others will say it won't.

I'm sorry, but allowing some states to discriminate means that you are just cool with allowing the discrimination. You allow it going on in your house so that means you accept it.

Maybe we should overturn Loving v Virginia too? Let's just let the states decide if interracial marriage should be legal, we have to respect the religious rights of people and if people have a religious right to ban interracial marriage and discriminate then we must respect those rights, right?

But you know what, do it. I dare the right, I double dog dare them, do it. Overturn Obergfell and Roe, and let's see how excited the country will be in handing more power over to the religious right.

It would hand more power to the states, and it would end both of these issues as the divisive issues they are on the national scene, probably once and for all. But you and the Democrat left like the divisiveness and the national conflict and strife.

Well, most Americans do not. And our constitution provides a brilliant way to substantially diffuse this sort of tension. It is called states rights. By letting the different states treat these matters differently for their diverse populations, it is amazing how effective that is in making these issues more approachable and resolvable.

But of course you are a leftist, so there is only one way, your way, and everyone has to not only submit to it, but like it. Unbelievable.

Don't really know about her. Interesting that you position her as "very hard for the Democrat left to oppose." Why, because she is a woman?

Since all of the supreme court justices have religious backgrounds of some ort, I don't think her "religious affiliation" shouldn't be an issue. Odd you claim Senator Feinstein as being anti-catholic... since she approved Anthony Kennedy, a Catholic. So perhaps Feinstein was looking more at how Barrett's decision-making and commentary?

Barrett once claimed: "it is never appropriate for a judge to apply their personal convictions, whether it derives from faith or personal conviction", but Feistein and others questioned Barrett about an article she wrote:
That said, the key will be Barrett's positions on important things facing the court, not the least of which her thinking on choice and whether she will overturn Roe vs Wade. Since Barrett has already written in 2003 that she believes Roe v Wade was an erroneous decision, it will be hard for her to avoid that question in front of the Senate.

Yes, allowing some states to make gay marriage illegal is not divisive at all...

So, do you agree with the conclusion of Loving v Verginia? It too ended states rights as some states still had Interracial marriage illegal...

I'm not the one that wants to allow states to ban gay marriage, you do. IDGAF who you marry, doesn't affect me. I'm not forcing you to marry a man either.

I honestly don't understand what Tom and Stan getting married in Alabama has to do with me but the religious right is very controlling about what people do with their genitals for some reason. Not sure what's that about.

    https://www.salon.com/2018/06/29/did-anthony-kennedys-son-loan-donald-trump-1-billion/

"During Mr. Kennedy's tenure, Deutsche Bank became Mr. Trump's most important lender, dispensing well over $1 billion in loans to him for the renovation and construction of skyscrapers in New York and Chicago at a time other mainstream banks were wary of doing business with him because of his troubled business history," Liptak and Haberman continued.

    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/06/donald-trump-justice-anthony-kennedy-retirement
"And he cultivated a relationship with Justice Kennedy’s son, Justin, who worked closely with the Trump Organization in his role at Deutsche Bank as the global head of real-estate capital markets, according to the Times."

hhhmmmmm sounds like this is kind of important
Demos have to get off the "He so stupid" mentality . . . .. he has been out flanking them left right and center

I think it's the other way around, you are the one who can not listen nor consider other ideas. Instead, to protect your viewpoint, you say the other side will not listen. It's pointless, you see Trump as your god.

People are just dumb. Yes, MojoMan, the Democratic party that is compromised of a majority of Christians has a anti-Christian bias.

It show the severe privileged position that Christianity has in this nation's history, that someone like mojoman thinks that Christians are being attacked because a political party doesn't want to make national policy decisions based on religious text.
