This is it exactly. We have a great team but the Warriors exist so we are desperately seeking an impact player. The truth is we aren't even at the poker table right now. We're just hoping that one of the players burns out and we get a chance to to play before closing time. Problem is last call is happening right now.
This reminds me: I don't think the Rockets have made their required Qualifying Offer to Capela, yet. Have they?
Don't quote me on this. Cavs LeBron James (Player Option) Clippers DeAndre Jordan (Player Option) --> Rumored to opt in Pacers Thaddeus Young (Player Option) --> Rumored to opt out Knicks Enes Kanter (Player Option) --> Rumored to opt in Mavs Dirk Nowitzki (Team Option) --> Rumored to be declined Kings Garrett Temple (Player Option) Pacers Joe Young (Team Option) Rockets Aaron Jackson (Team Option) Spurs Joffrey Lauvergne (Player Option) --> Rumored to opt out
Thanks J.R. I guess that's accurate, i only saw somewhere (i think it was Ian Begley) hours ago that Kanter will probably opt in but that he was still thinking about it.
We have until tomorrow to make our Qualifying Offer; otherwise, Capela becomes an unrestricted free agent. It's no big deal, as I recall Morey always waits until last second to do it with other players.
Kanter opting out (or declining his option) would be so dumb it's not even fathomable that he would do it. I know he wants a multi-year deal and he feels like he just had his best year, but it doesn't matter. Nobody is going to sign him to multiple years at big dollars.
It's not official until I hear it from Holic. His studied scientific approach is more accurate than your willy-nilly guessing.
Yep, here it is. If the Mavs are really after DeAndre, we might have a really good chance to keep Clint at a more acceptable price.
Yea thats one of the reasons(but I'm not super enthused as some others about the prospect of Lebron, I've said as much before). Its's also that .....I dont want anyone else to get better. If the Lakers get George, Kawhi and Lebron, while keeping some semblance of depth thats just gonna make everything that much harder for us. Things are already hard enough with the Celtics and Jazz(not as worried about them) coming back fully healthy but now we gotta deal with the Lakers. We'd be totally screwed if that team happens.
Kanter claims to have interest from 4-5 teams. Knicks center Enes Kanter plans to save his opt-out decision for Friday’s deadline, but he tells Marc Berman of The New York Post “there could be four, five teams” ready to contact him if he chooses free agency. “My thing is, if I can, I’d just want to stay with the Knicks,” Kanter said. “I played here last year and I loved it, loved the people here. It’s not just about the money. It’s about the whole organization. But that’s the decision I’m going to make the last day. It’s not 100 percent. I just keeping talking to my agent. There’s a lot of teams out there if I opt out, they’re already interested in me. That’s why I’m taking my time.” “With Coach Fizdale, I want to stay more,’’ Kanter added. “I know his mentality, I know how much freedom he gives to his players. It’s going to help my decision for sure. I think he’s going to change a lot of things. He seems like a relationship with him is like a friendship relationship. It’s not a player-coach relationship. I talked to him for two hours and it gives you so much confidence.’’
