Any Spurs power position fades the longer they wait. imso, you lose all leverage with Ainge if you wait into the season. Ainge doesn't need Kashi, and he would want him even less, if he doesn't suit up for camp, so they can enroll him in their Celtics Reeducation Classes as soon as possible, to brainwash him into re-upping in the summer vs going to la la land.
I wouldn't be so sure on that... Tatum (or Hayward), another salary piece, pick for Kawhi could be enough to snag him. Celtics would still have core pieces in play to sway Kawhi. Boston would embrace him and I don't see why Kawhi would leave TBH. He just needs to give it a chance. I acknowledge it's a big gamble but let's not act like Tatum is some can't miss talent. He's good but he's not on Kawhi level.
I think the BEST offer Spurs will get for Kawahi comes from Boston in the form of Kyrie + Brown + Celtic's 2019 1st (top 5 protected) If I was the Spurs I might be willing to settle for Kyrie + Sac's pick
If the Lakers use their cap space this season on Lebron and Paul George, Kawhi won't have the option of going there in FA unless he wants to go for the MLE. Also, the incentive for the Celtics is that if they really think that Kyrie might walk in FA, they won't get a better offer than Kawhi for him.
Agreed. If Ainge dangles Tatum, Rozier, picks and fillers Pop would jump on that sh*t faster than Tony Parker hearing his teammate bringing his wife to the team meeting.
And Pops know that, too, meaning he knows Ainge will drop his offer in the season...as he doesn't really need Kashi. Ainge can call any bluff Pops makes by giving him a By-Camp deadline and drastically dropping his offer after that. Pops gains nothing by playing a waiting game, and any competent GM will know that.
tatum is actually a gem. whens the last time another 20 year old kid came into the season and performed the way he did in the playoffs like he did. unlike alot of these other hyped up wings, hes actually translating his performances to wins and on big stages. his game is way ahead of most of these guys and is very rare to see at this age
The Lakers are willing to include former No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram and a future first-round pick in a package for Leonard, but the Spurs are seeking a far more complete haul of Lakers young players and future picks, league sources said. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...kers-boston-celtics-kawhi-leonard-trade-talks LOL, Gonna need more than that, Lakers. And that future pick is likely in the 20's.
I love Tatum too (and I'm not expecting him to be offered in any trade scenario) but a team of Horford, Hayward, Kawhi, Brown, and Kyrie would be more than formidable against the Warriors even without Tatum. The only caveat here is....how healthy will Kawhi be and will he re-sign to stay in Boston. If Ainge knows both questions he'll make the move.
Jayson Tatum is going to be a top 5 player in 5 years. He’s litterally the full package. Skilled 2 way versatile forward who can shoot and create off the dribble. He’s definitely a can’t miss talent.
Essentially it's a watch-and-see thing for PG just as well as it is rumored to be for LeBron which makes it seem like if they don't get Kawhi none of this might take place unless LeBron wants to commit and hope PG follows through.
Ingram and a mediocre/bad pick...don't see how the Spurs accept that, i think the Rockets can actually beat that lol
That's hilarious. _____________ At first, thought Boston should probably do it. Now? No. Absolutely not. They don't need to. There's no need to risk it on his health, him walking away, him pulling any BS. They're already going to be good. Keep your assets. Keep your eyes on the future/future prize. (Anthony Davis?). I would not do it if I'm Boston.
