I think Mexico should be hoping Brazil end up in second place in Group E and Switzerland win it so Mexico get Switzerland. Even though Brazil aren't playing great, I don't think Mexico wants to deal with Brazil....in the Mexican exit point of the R16. Also, Spain. Jeez, I didn't realize how easy their route to the semi-final looks compared to the big teams in all the other sections.
Mexico matches up well with non-physical, play the ball on the ground teams. They really struggle against teams like Sweden who are very physical and play vertical. In that sense both Swiss and Brazil are better matchups than Serbia.
Hard to accept, because talent-wise this team should walk through to the semis. Now we have our Waterloo - and it's absolutely deserved. Had high hopes that the Kroos goal was kind of a game changer, but nah... still the same effortless, apathic, uninspired play. Löw made all the right calls before the Sweden game, now he got it all wrong. Bringing back Khedira and Özil was a big fail, also Goretzka on the wing when you need explosivness is beyond me. Only feel sorry for Neuer and Hummels who really tried, rest can go **** off. That's why I'm really disappointed, but not hurt. Rockets losing the series against the Warriors hurt way more, because they tried as hard as they could and would've deserved it. This German team deserves all what's coming now... Some may call for Löw's head, but since he made it to the semi finals each and every tournament before, he should be given the chance to build a new team. Sometimes having too much talent hurts, Löw tried a lot during friendly matches, played a lot of players but never found a team that could grow together. You saw it in today's game, so many mistakes and misunderstandings, like they all never saw each other before. At some point you can't always give everyone a chance, build a team that is used to each other, stop that rotation ****. Özil, Khedira, Gomez, Boateng, maybe even Müller all have to step down immediately. Addition by subtraction. I want to see a lot of Süle, Goretzka (not on the wing), Brandt, Sané, maybe Gnabry in the starting formation come October. On the positive side, I can lay back now and hopefully enjoy a good tournament with teams that actually play good football. If someone offered me in 2014 to win the title now in exchange for a group stage exit in 2018 I would've accepted right away. So be it...
