Maybe Bobby just holds higher standards for liberals/Democrats?

That's what it seems like with his posts when the GOP POTUS explictly expresses desires for physical violence over protestors and silence...

But a small business denying service to a government official based on individual merit.... Now that is shameful!

Maybe Bobby just subconsciously holds higher standards for the left?

The idea that yelling at Trump staffers on the street is going to increase the odds of Democrats winning at the polls is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, changing hearts and minds is not easy. Chance of failure is high. But vinegar sure as **** isn't going to accomplish anything beyond what honey might. That much we do know. Further, it also runs the added risk of accomplishing the opposite of the goal.

So, electoral poison? Not necessarily (especially with an ogre like Trump around), but it's an unnecessary risk and self inflicted wound waiting to happen. Given that, I suppose it makes perfect sense democrats would be all about it.

    I agree, it isn't a winning strategy.

At the same time, the crocodile tears from the right asking for civility are kinda funny. You have to admit that.

Want to know how to ensure Trump is re-elected?

Let the far left (formally marginalized) misfits have a strong voice in the party... let Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris and other extremists spout off and it will alienate voters.

Try to be as rude and dishonest as Trump. No one is better than Trump at this and people on both sides of the aisle expect it from him. If Democrats follow suit it only softens the fact Trump is a scumbag.

    Champion and support “democratic-socialists”.

The way to hand Trump wins is to continue to cower and act apologetic.

The Michael Avanetti approach is the only way you can get any air time in 2018 unfortunately unless you have the celebrity of an Oprah, or your last name is Obama, your message will never be heard.

Trump is a bully in every since. The Democratic Party is letting the bully run the playground currently. The Democrats.... frankly... need to grow a pair and stop caring about being shamed by the media who cannot wait to show how “fair” they are (see we hit both sides!!), and wingnuts like the OP here who would want to jail Mother Theresa if she was a registered Democrat.

Grow a pair, and find a way to get airtime so you can actually get some sort of airtime.

Many Republicans thought the same thing in the primaries and their actions ended up handing him the whole thing. Like I said before, If you willingly get down in the mud to wrestle with a pig no one thinks less of the pig. The Republicans thought the "fight back" strategy would work so they got down in the mud with him and all it did was hand him the nomination and hurt their reputation.....the same will happen to Democrats if they don't learn their lesson. I mean, Hillary thought she was kicking ass with her "basket of deplorables" comments....how'd that work out?

Do you know why the Democratic message is not being heard? Because everyone is too busy talking about how awful Trump is. And the only Leftist voice being heard is the intolerant extremist.

Give me a Democrat who will denounce all forms of intolerance, put all citizens first instead of protective classes and I will strongly consider voting for them.
Continue to let intolerant extremist like Maxine Waters speak for the party, put social issues first and foremost with the economy in a far distant and I will toss my vote elsewhere.
Those of you on the hard left are becoming very tone deaf. Im hearing more and more centrist and slightly left starting to compare the Democrat party to the intolerant Republican party of the 60's, 70's and 80's.

I disagree completely because it doesn’t matter... someone like Maxine Waters, no matter what she does, will always be too extreme for the Right, and cast as an enemy. The fear on the Left of being too extreme is the weakness that the Right plays like a fiddle. They are extremely good at playing the Democrats.

So F it. Have a strong message and get it out any way you can. A Republican Congressman tweeted Nazi propaganda this week and we are all up in arms about a Democrat Congress woman saying folks should give it to Trump officials verbally and protest them in public when they think they can be complicit in Trumps facist regime and live a normal life outside of the office.

Joe Biden was refused service. The gay couple was refused service by a baker who didn’t serve gays. Protesting political figures to the point of denying them service or verbally harassing them in public is nothing new and part of our discourse. No ... its not always polite, but it’s proven to be allowed... even in the court of law.

If Maxine Waters was a Republican, the Republican Party and their followers wouldn’t be turning on Maxine. They’d turn on YOU for even questioning it and make the conversation about your transgressions no matter how small they are.

Not being at least somewhat extreme in 2018 gets you nowhere with zero coverage. Being submissive to this bully tactic gets them nowhere.

Bullsh$&. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. Trump does things like separating children from their parents. We will not be shamed and cower to your tactics here you are trying to accomplish. We are alllowed to dissent to your beloved King, and at same time talk about our political agenda.

You won’t shame me into stepping back on much needed dissent which is needed daily when we get our daily dose of facist extreme positions designed to make one man more and more powerful while people like yourself sit there and carry his water for him.

F that. It’s laughable for a Trump fan of all people to sit here and call someone intolerant because they don’t want to serve Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Intolerance is banning people from entering the country because they are a religion you don’t like. Intolerance is labeling everyone coming from south of the border a rapist. Intolerance is NOT speaking your mind in public to public figures.

Democrats can’t play games with people like you trying to get us to tuck our tails between our legs. I have the right to dissent, and the right to tell SHS she lies to the American public for a living and she should be let known that you can’t just sit here and eat your omlette and not hear about it.

Totes. Nobody on the Trump train has any room to whine about civility.

There's a difference between growing a pair (Avanetti) and being a shrieking lunatic (Maxine Waters).

You're right here except for the final bit. (provided you're suggesting democratic socialists are a path to electoral ruin)

The only Democratic Socialist we have, Bernie, is the last person you will find shrieking and hollering at Trump aides, advocating for incivility, or shutting down the whole system, etc.

Bernie's approach from November 8th 2016 onward has been steadfast, calm, collected, but tough-as-nails criticism.

He is the no nonsense hardass populist the Democrats have desperately needed for decades.

If the Democrats want to lose, they need to keep focusing on identity politics, the oppression olympics, and being the personality police and fainting couch experts.

If you want to win, sack up and hit Trump on the issues. Over. And over. And over.

You're right - it is ridiculously stupid to kick Sarah Huckabee Sanders out of a restaurant for her polical beliefs.

This thread is so funny. OP posts an article that is spot on and many of you guys just double down. What’s worse is not that your entrenching the Republican base, but those of us who have traditionally been part of the swing swing vote have moved farther to the right because of your actions.

You can’t claim the moral high ground and then defend people like Samantha Bee, Peter Fonda, Maxine Waters etc...and expect it to not drive many people away. But go ahead and keep doing what your doing and you will continue see the support for Trump continue to grow.

Not quite as ridiculous as the idea that if you're nice to these people- they'll maybe see reason and just stop building kiddie concentration camps/oppressing the poor/plundering the government.

After decades of cheating and bad faith (gerrymandering, voter suppression, colluding with foreign governments...just to name a few thibgs ) - the right, despite being unpalatable to 60% of the country, controls all of our institutions and has rigged the courts to keep it that way (5-4, 5-4, 5-4).

the only sphere we still control is the cultural one, and the only power we have is shame, to the extent these people are capable of feeling it.

it's a tiny price to pay for their crimes.

It's the "I'm more critical of comedians in terms of civility more so than the manager of the world's largest bureaucracy, commander of the world's most powerful military and head diplomat of the world hegomon" that has me almost literally rolling on the floor in laughter.

God I hope you are playing some sort of shtick.

We would never have had your vote, and we’d be stupid to try and court it. If the lefts agenda-

    -healthcare as a right
    -human rights
    -taking care of the earth
    -clean air and water
-an economy that is driven by the middle class and not trickle down theory

Isn’t enough for you, you’ll never be gotten as a voter. You are playing a game here or being easily puppeted into playing a game where the right and it’s minions try to “how dare you” into submission where the left recedes in its messaging to the point where it’s so benign you can’t hear it.

Well played, and it’s going to work with the Nancy Pelosi types that fall for the Rights tactics here. However every action has an opposite reaction, and just as you guys are going further right, you’ll have more and more going left who will not be getting elected and creating hell. Moderation is essentially dead the day you guys elected Donald Trump and carry his water for him in the public sphere.

Fake outrage with the Right has always been a little comical but come on... all this blitz the past few days over .... Maxine Waters??... lol. At least it’s not about a Tan suit. What if Hillary was president and rep Steve King tweeted what he tweeted the other day and MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc for three days straight covered that tweet and made it a referendum to attack every single Republican in the public sphere? You guys are so easily manipulated with your fake outrage. Give me a GDamn break.

Yes, I am sure doubling down on throwing childish temper tantrums is a winning strategy for the left. Please by all means keep it up until November.
