Herrera robbed Bregman of a walk-off homer and then hit the game winning RBI triple. Grichuk hit a 2 run shot then robbed George of 3-run tying blast. 4 game swing. 2 L's instead of 2 W's. Tough luck
Not if the fan doesn’t reach into the field. The fan had every right to catch Springer’s ball as Grichuk actually had to reach over the wall to get it. He should have focused on where the OF was more and made an attempt to at least screw him up.
It's frustrating that the team is all world on the road and inconsistent and mediocre at home struggling to beat bad teams at times. The team's road success has set a high bar for them at home and that's why it's frustrating for them to have all these duds at home. They figured it out eventually last year, hope that happens again this year.
They’re playing better teams right now at home (minus KC). Taking 2 of 3 against the Rays who just swept NYY is no joke. And they still won the series against KC. Toronto isn’t a bad team
if the fan made the catch and the umps have called interference, we'd be wanting to strangle that fan.
Did the player reach into the stands? If so it is fair game. As long as the fan doesn't reach into the field of play he has a right to the ball with no interference. It looked to me like the player was over the wall and it woudl not have been interference to go for the ball. I would have been doing everything I could to get that ball out of the glove on the fan side of the wall. grab at his glove, grab at the ball, etc.
Looked to me like the ball was hit to a few seats that were empty in the first row. On one side, was a kid with a mitt that was with a family of Blue Jays fans, the kid was edging his way to catch the ball. On the other side was an adult Astros fan, also edging towards the open space to catch the ball. As they were both looking up, but could sense they were near each other, neither of them got right under the ball. This led to an empty space where Grichuk reached up and made the catch in the stands. But I doubt any fan could process all of what was going on and intentionally block Grichuk's glove, even though they would technically be allowed to do so, as the ball was in the stands where Grichuk caught it.
Missed last night's game. Looks like that was for the best. Some very interesting videos to watch this morning. While, I, of course, want our team to hit game-tying home runs and win, I must say that, as a baseball fan, I just love watching that Grichuk catch. It was 100% a legit stolen HR, none of these questionable ones we never get a good angle on. He didn't make some sort of racing approach that slammed him into the wall or anything. He just got there, found the wall, properly positioned himself, and just executed a high and perfect snag to rob Springer and save the game for his team. Deliberate and beautiful.
The Astros have to be shopping him. He is by far the worst hitter the Astros have. Kyle Tucker is waiting.
