That's a little racist and homerism by saying most Lins fan never watched NBA before until now because of his race.

Hello? I bet you never heard of a player named Yao Ming.

How would anyone never watched a NBA game would know about Jeremy Lin? It contradicts itself in that sense.

So let say those fans never watched NBA but heard about Lin thru other medias than how do you know they are even out there???

You only assume that because you have encountered them on this forum. Yet you so quick to make that assumption. I guess you were not cut from the same cloth as the rest of us on this forum.

It's stupid writing, but it's also not that hard to understand what he meant.

Like say Lebron had an opportunity to go to OKC. Let's ay he goes to OKC somehow, and PG stays with Russ. Then he beats the Warriors, and the Celtics in the Finals.

That'd elevate him so much more than if he joins the Rockets and wins a Finals. Because he'd be taking out KD and Kyrie, in some random non major market team.

There are definitely moves where it adds to the "legend" of Lebron more than others.

"Cultivating mystique" seems to be play on big market team and win games, thats it.

LeBron isn't going to play any different than he has his entire career if he changes teams. All these things tell me is they think just because LeBron is on a major media market team and more people will watch his every game that somehow that changes who he is as a player. Its bullshit. Large media markets are no more "mystical" than any other market and you can't convince me otherwise. The dude writing that will probably only give the "cultivating mystique" angle to LA and NYK if I had to guess.

That's not what they said at all.

They just said what is painfully true. Lebron going to the Lakers and returning them to glory, or even very close, will play differently for his career, then going to a team like Houston.

    It just will.

There are LOTS of fans out there that legitimately think Kobe belongs in a GOAT conversation with MJ and Lebron. There are even slightly more rationale fans out there that recognize he's not that, but is definitely a top 10 player.

Both of which, on an unbiased basis, are crazy. He's not even the best player to ever play for the Lakers. Heck, he's probably not the 2nd best.

At least for a 3-5 year period, I'd take Kareem and Magic over Kobe. Heck, I'd take Shaq over Kobe, too.

But that's what LA mystique can potentially do, if marketed correctly.

Thats exactly what they said. Guess you just interpret things differently than I do. That is without a DOUBT what they said lmao.

Why? Because the Lakers are a more popular team? It only matters to the media. If it REALLY made that much of a difference then why hasn't LeBron ever truly considered LA or New York in all of his career until he's supposedly been considering LA now?

See, you said it yourself, its about MARKETING, about BIG MEDIA, nothing basketball related whatsoever. The media will fawn over LeBron a little more in LA, big ****ing deal.

My assessment was exactly correct and you've just confirmed that with your response.

Lakers are a basketball franchise brick for brick just like the Rockets. They have more history than the Rockets and play in a larger media market than the Rockets. THATS IT. The extra "mystique" bullshit is just garbage shoveled out by the big media market talking heads to make people believe that playing in LA is somehow inherently different than playing in Houston, when its not, its garbage. A championship in Houston means the exact same as a championship in Cleveland, LA, Miami, or San Antonio.

    THATS, the hard truth.

Yes. It’s about the media. La and NYC are big media markets. Not complicated.

Yao Ming fans do not overlaps at all with Lin fans, at least not as much as you think. Maybe you weren't here during the time, but a lot of Lin fans were self admitted only very casually started watching the NBA before Linsanity, some did not watch the NBA at all.

this was evident because these fans would inject race and politics into every damn basketball conversation about Lin, man 2012 was a bad year

Had people watching Linsanity during my Masters in the middle of class, had no idea about basketball at all other than Lin.

Def not the same as Yao fans

Paul and Harden need to amp up the recruiting.

So much speculation about players moving around.. why not come to a stable situation?

Hope the Kawhi saga drags out to the deadline.

I don't even like Lebron but I hate the Warriors so much and want to see them fall so bad that at this point if you told me Jared from Subway could help them beat the Warriors you'll find me wearing a "Free Jared" t-shirt whilst eating a five dollar foot long.

Lebron is racist and it’s a conspiracy to take Lin’s glory. Thank god the majority of the nutty Lin trolls are gone. Unfortunately there are still a few left trolling but nothing like yesterday years

Hahaha shut it down. Harden is downplaying stuff now. No chance this is happening. Paul George and Lebron are going to LA and building a media special about it.

Hopefully Morey has some other way to make this team better.

Pretty much. I mean Harden kinda went through the same situation/conversations with Durant before he went to Golden State, Lebron probably told CP what he was going to do and they never talked about it again afterwards.
