If Chris Paul wanted to play with LeBron for the sake of playing with LeBron, he had an avenue to do so last summer with a Kyrie trade. If he wanted to be in Los Angeles for the sake of being in Los Angeles, he was already in Los Angeles. If he wants to win a ring, which is his stated priority, the idea of LeBron, CP, and a few young kids as spare parts being as good as a team that won 65 games in the West seems asinine.
Wouldn't mind this too much if we strike out in FA. Anderson, Onuaku and Qi works financially. Melo is still an upgrade over Anderson, and he's expiring. I'm guessing we'd have to attach 1 first, but who know with the tone being set for the Mozgof/Howard deal maybe just a couple of seconds.
Game is gonna age well. I’m not as down as some on here. Sure we need to take caution with Paul but the Rockets gon be alright
I'm not sure about Melo's attitude. For all the crap we give Anderson, he didn't cause much fluff about his role. If the goal is to beat the Warriors, Melo isn't a option for the role he wants. The best we can hope for in my opinion is if we trade Anderson for Bazemore or Anderson for Bledsoe or Anderson for R.Lopez. You get the point.
Perhaps but there's always the chance Melo would click with Houston's group too, the Thunder were a mess last season, and the Knicks have been a mess for... longer then I can remember. He's already good friends with Paul so that's a good start.
Just a thought,Chris And LeBron have definitely been talking, there's no doubt. We also know Harden and Melo were in Paris all last week (with PJ). I know this is very unlikely, and I wouldn't presume this happened, It's not entirely implausible Harden and Melo are discussion a scenario where Melo negotiates a buyout and signs for cheap (a la Wade last year with Chicago). This would then motivate Melo to talk to recruit LeBron as well, as it was apparently his vision last off season where he, CP3 and LeBron were all on the Rockets.
I feel like all it would take is to put his damn ego aside. Even if he's not a starter, there's a good chance he'll be on the floor at the end of games which is what really matters the most. His job would be sooo easy as a Rocket.
I could very much see it. If that happened then I think there's a very good chance to see Harden, Paul, Lebron, and Melo on the same team next season. How it'll work out.....I don't know, but would they pass up that opportunity?
I think buyout is likely...I think he will come here because he is a good friend with Paul. Maybe if Melo comes here, Lebron wants to come here. Never know.
Good points, but the above is disingenuous, and would probably generate a lot of push-back from knowledgeable fans around the internet. I might temper that thought, if I was a pro. Morey already had Paul locked-on and lasered-in with a closed opt-in-n-trade well before Kyrie met with Gilbert mid July. Paul lost all trade control way before anything with Kyrie happened.
He and Presti both basically said they are not happy with Melo’s situation in their exit interviews. Steven Adams dissed Melo in a social media post, and yesterday Presti said he wishes he could say much has changed on the Melo front, but it hasn’t. It’s gotten toxic from the outside perspective.
