Unfortunately, I think he's right. The Sexton pick was a feeble attempt to appease LeBron, as his camp made it known they liked him pre-draft, but I don't think they'll be able to do enough over the next 2-3 weeks to give him reason to stay.

If LeBron came here Murph may allow him to wear 23 and this won’t be an issue, or the rookie gives up 6. Not that difficult of a fix

smart move by the Rook. Get LBJ's number. That way he has to buy it from you if he comes. I like it.

Because in a pure basketball since the rockets make the most sense. No one is doubting that. In Houston u are 100 percent gonna win a chip. In l.a it's 75. All take those odds if I'm lbj. At this point his die is cast. Either u think he the greatest or the second. No more chips would change that to the people that think he is 2nd. Lbj is bigger then basketball. He wants a empire after the ball stops bouncing like Jordan but even better. Honestly I think it's the right move. Basket ball isn't forever. N he doesn't have anything left to prove on the coury

For someone who has nothing left to prove he sure played his ass off in the playoffs. And he cared enough to break his own damn hand after the game 1 loss in the finals. No one would have blamed him for even losing in any round of the playoffs this year, but he clearly still wants to win. The Lakers are the worst option of the teams he's looking at in that regard. Philly, Boston, and Houston are all clearly championship caliber teams if he joins.

His family is what's going to make up his mind though. If they want to be in LA or just stay in Cleveland, that's what's going to happen. Regardless if LeBron does in fact agree with this board about 100% winning a title next year by moving to Houston. He probably figures as long as they're happy, that's more important than chasing rings. Even though yes, he did say he's still in championship mode and all. It's not like he would say, nah I'm just content getting put out to pasture on a lottery team.

One week left and this will all be over thankfully. Then this board can move on to actually upgrading this team. We will have our own sagas with CP3 and Capela to worry about for sure. Although both most likely will be kept, at what detriment to the team financially?

As I've stated before......Windhorst is Lebron's tool. This means they have a relationship. No, they aren't BUDDIES. They don't have to be. And no, that doesn't mean that LeBron gives him ask the inside skinny. He doesn't.

It's basically like this. Windhirst is a HUGE (yes, there is a pun there) fan of Lebron. In Windhorst's reporting, he would never reveal anything that he knows LeBron would not want revealed. And he also would repeat false rumors that LeBron would let leak to him and promote those false rumors/leaks to help LeBron even when he knew they were false.

If you understand this then consider the possibilities here.

Could Windy have known about the hand injury and then covered it up and acted like he couldn't find out what happened to LeBron hand? Sure. And it's 50/50 that that actually happened. Because if Windy had known about the injury.....he wouldn't have revealed it to the public anyway. Because he's a huge LeBron fan and he values any relationship he has with Lebron, even one where LeBron just uses him.

Let's be realistic about LeBron here. What do we know about him?

Well, the first thing we know about him is he's the man, correctly being discussed and argued over as the greatest player ever. And since he's always been the man, even in Miami where Wade acknowledged this (which was a HUGE key to getting LeBron to Miami).

So, doesn't common sense tell you he still wants to be the man? He's still in his prime. Playing better than ever.

The second thing we know about LeBron is he loves Ohio. It's his lifetime home. He was born there. He loved being drafted by the Cavs. He didn't want to leave there. And he went back the first chance he got. If you asked him which championship meant the most to him, without a doubt he'd say 2016.

The third thing we know about LeBron is he wants the legacy as the undisputed greatest player ever. This is what drives him. He's obsessed with it. He hears the MJ critics. And now he's hearing the Durant and Warrior critics. And it's driving him crazy. That's why you have to admire his Herculean efforts in single-handedly dragging the Cavs to the Finals this season, last season, and prior to the Miami years.

Now, did we need Windy Horsebutt to divine any of that for us? Nope.

So take the next step and merge those facts together. What do we get? Easy

    1. He wants to stay in Cleveland as the man, win AT LEAST 4 championships in a row and simultaneously dethrone the Warriors as the greatest team ever and MJ as the greatest player ever. And in the process of it all set a pile of individual records.

Would any person disagree that this is ideally what LeBron wants?

    2. If he can't have everything in #1, the thing that is the first to go is playing in Cleveland. HE HAS ALREADY PROVEN THAT BY LEAVING BEFORE! Why did he leave? Because he could see that their cap and roster were jacked up and they had no chance to win a ring in the near future....even with him there. So he left to go win.

But he was still the man in Miami. And he went there to be the man after Wade assured him and everybody else that he would be the man in Miami. And he went to a team that he thought he could lead to championshipS.

    Remember,,,,,,,"not 1, not 2, not 3 not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, ......."?

Why did he leave Miami? They won two. But they lost two also. Cap limitations. And then he couldn't get Pat Riley to do everything he wanted. (Key, that's two front offices he clashed with including Riley, a proven winner).

There's a very clear control/trust issue here with Lebron. He wants control of the ball, the style of play, the personnel, and even the coaching (witness both Blatt and Spo). So when he was losing both control and championships in Miami he went back home and made up with the owner he had clashed with before. But only....Because the Cavs now had a team in place with Kyrie and other parts that he could win with.

So there should be no question that winning championships and being the man supercede location in LeBron's world.

So that leaves him looking for another destination where he can both win championships AND be the man. Enter Lakerland. Cap space enough to get another superstar to go with him, and enough assets to trade for a third star. And George is ready. But who is the third guy that gives him a chance to win while keeping at least one of Kuzma/Ball? Hey, they can't get Leonard. Don't have what the Spurs want for Leonard. So LeBron walks there with George. Maybe they get a trade done to add Kemba. Something like Kemba and Mozgov for Dieng, Ingram, and pieces parts.

Lonzo, Kemba, Lebron, George, Kyle, Kuzma, etc. Is that enough to get Lebron to walk to LA to bff the man? Will George accept Lebron being the man?

    3. So if LeBron can't win in the location he wants and has to move and he has to choose between having his own team in LA and possible winning another championship down the road or going to Houston, bring 1b to Harden, and having the best chance to rattle off multiple championships.....which dies he choose?

    And that's the key.....

Cleveland's best chance to retain LeBron was last night. They drafted a small playmaker who is gong to be a rookie. That's not going to help their championship case AT ALL. They couldn't find a deal for Love and/or the 8th pick to execute fit either a rebuild or to keep Lebron there.

Now perhaps they can get a deal done,,,say Smith, Hill, Sexton for Kemba, Cody Zeller, and Batum. And perhaps the rearranging of the deck chairs would be enough to convince LeBron to stay.

But I doubt it. LeBron is staring at the distinct possibility of the Celtics acquiring Kawhi and the Sixers signing guys and/or trading for another great piece for their team.

And then there's the repeater tax that's coming into play that is weighing on the Cavs franchise. Lebron knows that and knows they can't afford to pay it. So he knows they're trying to lower salary even if he stays.

Those factors all point to LA or Houston. Cavs aren't good enough. They're landlocked everywhere. And other younger trend are on the rise, overflowing with assets, cap room, and free of repeater tax concerns.

LeBron dilemma is simply this, either go to LA with another superstar, hope they can get a third guy and then possibly compete for a championship in the 19-20 season and beyond

    OR

Roll into Houston and be primed for a championship next season and for at least the next 4 years with Harden, a player that is better than anybody else he could play with.....and Paul one of his best friends and a future hall of famer.

UNLESS LEBRON CHANGES HIS SPOTS and becomes a different person than the one we've known for the last 15 years and becomes connected time play it out in Cleveland.....then what I described above is his real decision. Nothing whee matters. Kids, family, city...etc. He's got those things anywhere he goes. That's ask a bunch of nothing rumors rumoured up by reporters trying tut be important or leaked by the players, teams, etc. to generate some sort of favor.

Windy Horsebutt and all his yakking doesn't change these facts.

A good read, but where's the money coming from? Surely LBJ isn't signing for vet min.
To retain last seasons team may already put us way over the cap.
Getting rid of EG isnt the answer and won't give us much relief.
No one will take Andersons contract.
    CP3 has been promised max.
How much will Capella cost, assuming we retain him?
    Ariza wants fair market value.
Nice idea, but I can't see even Morey making this all fit.

Lonzo would be moved and the team completely retooled around a big 3 of LeBron + PG + Kawhi/Jimmy/Kemba/etc. Mid-tier FAs and vets would be begging to play there.
