Melton plays like Gary Harris, Jamal Murray. Great Defense can really shoot and create offense

I think he makes a few all star teams down the road. A lot of it based on skill. Some of the votes due to the amount of Rockets wins making him look great also.

The Rockets get another guy whose name starts with D, has an apostrophe in it, and ends with Anthony.

THA HOMIE let's go, actually seen him play quite a bit and he fits perfectly here in the H. Scouting reports accurate.

Nice little video with a quick overview of what went down that cost him his sophomore year and a much higher spot in the draft. Watching it, I started thinking that he seems to be a very smart kid with at least some of the "P" word. Potential. The potential to be a role player, at any rate. Heck, if that's "all" young "Melo" becomes during his NBA journey, that's huge for a 2nd round pick. Who knows? Maybe he'll do just that. And does anyone know two better All Star guards to teach the guy in practice than Chris and James? This could be the perfect place for De'Anthony to land.

I love this quote: "The #nba is really positionless now. You could put me wherever you need me…"
Melton gets it! I wouldn't be shocked if he found some minutes here and there later in the season, just with his defense. Maybe he'll develop his shot. The kid had months of "free time" to work on it, since he couldn't play. Word is he looks like he did just that. I'm looking forward to how he does in summer league. As everyone knows, practice and games are two different animals. Interesting pick. It's growing on me.

Not crazy about players who can't shoot, no matter how well they defend. The game is about shooting.

if the game was all about shooting, there would be no need for defensive specialists on teams. but every single winning team has atleast one of those guys and in this era you need multiple

Of course defense is part of the game and important, but look at GS. Are they known more for shooting or defense? Scoring wins games.

considering theyre the top defensive team in the league this doesnt really say much. "scoring wins games" is way too generic. the rockets were the only team in the playoffs to hold GS under 100 and they did it twice. I'd say scoring didnt really win them those games. their defense did and thats why the focus shifted to the that side of the ball this year. the results showed.

How does Melton's game compare to Briante Weber or Gary Payton II? They were athletic defense guys that just didn't have "it" to stick.
