Cesar probably won’t play in the majors. But nice for him to be able to break that record.

OF Scott Schrieber was added to the Quad Cities roster. That’s 4 position player draftees assigned directly to full season ball. OF Logan Mattix is the only one having early success; he has yet to walk or strikeout in 4 games so far. Appears they may be employing a “sink or swim” mentality as an adaptation to their situation: late draft picks means a focus on high floor advanced college players, a system thinned out by trades means they have a weak roster in full season A ball, and the combo of deleting Greeneville and stacked short season rosters (due to backlog of complex league guys taken in previous higher risk mentality drafts and international overspending) means there’s no room in the traditional landing spot for late round college draftees. I like the approach.

I think he's got a pretty solid chance at being somebody's Tyler White type player. Up and down corner IF who won't embarrass himself at the plate, but doesn't make any major impact.

His approach seems very BABIP dependent. His 8 HR this season is a career high, so he’s not a HR guy. He strikes out more than any top prospect. He doesn’t walk much. He has very little defensive value. White showed a lot more offensive potential in the minors, he walked, he didn’t strikeout, he hit homers. That said, Cesar could be an extremely late bloomer and continue to add HR power over the next couple of years, in which case he’d become a legit prospect. I’m just doubtful that’s going to be the outcome.

23% isn't a good K%, but it's not bad, it's about what JD Davis did last year at AA. A better comparison I guess would be a less powerful JD Davis. Cesar is only 23 in AA, while White didn't reach AA until he was 24, and Cesar probably has better physical tools than White. I wasn't really comparing the two as prospects, just their general roles.

Myles Straw is the first person in affiliated professional baseball to steal 40 bases this season.

    hahahaha

When Altuve was Cesar's age he was in his third year as a big leaguer coming off a 340 season.

    Awful comp.

That boy is not f**king around. Got on base 3 times today. Now hitting .336 with 41 steals and a .420 OBP. 54 runs in 70 games.

    10 game hitting streak that he's rocking a 231 rc+ (131% better than average).

    Cesar faints.

I’m close to the point where I’d rather have him on the bench for baserunning and defensive sub than Marisnick. And I love Marisnick.

    I'm way past that point.

He's not the elite outfielder that Marisnick is, but by all accounts he's plus out there. He's faster than Marisnick, and is now stealing at an elite clip. And while he may not be able to hit .300 against MLB pitching, there's no way in hell he can be worse than Jake at this point.

Neither guy is gonna be an impact slugger, but having never seen him I already trust him more to give a competitive AB. Marisnick's career OBP is currently an embarrassing .271.

Randy Cesar could be Yuli Gurriel, 1B, High Contact, Low Power, Lesser Speed

Judging by his consistently high BABIP, there's no way he's not making good contact. But his BABIP this season is .443, and that is way off the reservation regardless of contact skills. He is also striking out way too much for a guy entirely dependent on average to survive.

    Stop.
It's less ridiculous than trying to compare him to Altuve, but it's still not a good comparison
