Totally agree with you. As for what he's going to do i don't really know what to expect, but he can really do anything...personally i wouldn't be shocked by a Irving trade, he's a great scoring talent but i'm not a fan overall, add the injuries he always had...i would never max him, and i will not be surprised if Ainge has a similar idea.
What about this ... You trade Gordon for a 1st rd pick. Pick the player CLE wants (essentially giving them an extra 1st pick in this years draft) Included that players rights in a, 2019 1st pick, and __________ for Lebron? edit : Of course, there would have to be some kind of agreement already in place. Not even sure it is legal. Just throwing shite at the wall.
Charlotte is blowing it up. They are auctioning off Kemba. They don’t want Gordon. Clippers have lofty goals of trading up with 12+13 and if they fail they are trying to rebuild on the fly not really get better. Denver, once they max jokic, will be looking to shed salary and avoid the tax. Keeping young cheap talent seems most likely but maaaybe you take faried and give Gordon its posssssssible but not likely imo Washington needs cheap talent and needs to shed salary also. Again I suppose it’s possible if you take gortat but idk. Phoenix I doubt it. They could use him if they really are trying to be more competitive but I imagine they will stay with the selection. Milwaukee is the most logical destination IMO.
I would, Hornets aren't competing. They just traded Howard for Mozgof. I'm betting Kemba gets dumped this draft for another pick and or young player. A lot of teams in the lotto that I could see trading for Kemba (Magic, Cavs, Philly, Knicks, Nuggets).
I also think ainge really likes rozier and smart. He may be willing to trade kyrie IMO and keep the smart/rozier/Larkin trio.
Doesn’t Utah have cap space? Is Royce O’neale considered equivalent to a mid 1st rounder? Maybe him and a future first? Would Utah help us out to get a talent like EG to play with Mitchell and Rubio? Trying to think outside of the box. Again this is only if we are working with Cleveland for a Lebron trade. Which is hopeless because he’s not coming here!
Gordon has to have very good value, no kidding, a two way player who can score 20 points per game and guard 3/4 positions, 28 years old, two years under contract for 13M...i would never trade him for a mid-late 1st rounder unless that is necessary to land a better player. Imo, between the teams that are in the lottery, those who could/should have high interest in Gordon are Memphis, Cleveland (if Lebron stays), Phila and Charlotte, but like BigMaloe said rumors are that they're going to rebuild so...
Logistical question: If we had whatever grouping of assets (Gordon, others, picks etc)... And the Cavs, for whatever reason, liked our offer enough... And Lebron, however unlikely this hypothetical is, had already decided to opt-in for a Houston trade... Given all the above (hypothetically), is there any timing reason why the trade could not be completed today? I know he has to opt-in by 6.29, but is there anything to prevent him from doing so now? Just wondering logistically, between League dates and the ticking clock on 2018 picks’ value “expiring” as of the draft tonight. Anything *procedural* that would prevent Cleveland and Houston from agreeing to and announcing a trade today? Only procedural, not reality.
I know if draft picks are included. Trading now, the first 1st rd is 2020,2022 etc.. if you wait till after the draft it can be 2019, 2021, etc.
I guess so, also cause you can still throw in 2nd rounders or a future 1st... But i'm just wondering, what if we're going for the cap space route? I know there were a lot of posts about this in these last days but, i don't really remember. If we trade Gordon for...let's say the 10th pick, i guess we're lowering the salaries by 8/9M right? If at this point the Cavs are not willing to trade Lebron for multiple future 1st and 2nd rounders alongside Anderson, Nene, Nanu (and a resigned Black...i think i read this is possible on paper...?) etc...and we instead dump those players to Atlanta/Chicago for future picks, renounce to Trevor's bird rights, how much of a paycut Chris should take to let us sign Lebron to a max?
Considering Kemba is better than Gordon and Batum for Anderson already makes the Rockets better, of course it does. But it means Tucker would come off the bench, assuming they retain Capela. And if they retain Ariza, too, then two of Ariza, Batum and Tucker would have to be happy in bench roles. Bottom line: Talent wise, yes. But it could be problematic from a chemistry standpoint.
I’d rather have Gordon versus Kemble. We already hvhave one midget in CP3, don’t need another plus our defense gets substantially worst and batum is very underwhelming
Yes, but mostly because you swap Batum for Anderson imo, Kemba (who is not coming off the bench for various reasons btw) might be better than Gordon, but for us i don't think he is. Also, if Kemba has more value around the league, which i'm not 100% sure but, let's say that's right, they might want to trade him by themselves instead of getting a guy with less value to trade...just wondering though, would someone trade a top 5 pick for Kemba expiring? I don't think so. Would someone trade a top 10 pick for Gordon with his two year deal? Mmmh, i can see it. So, yeah, not sure as today there's that big of a gap in terms of value. I might be wrong though. Just a sidenote, i have no idea of what is Batum healt status, i think i heard last season he played on a injury and because of that he was kinda meh, even though, the team overall was meh, if not literally trash...anyway yeah, his contract is also bad, but if healty, he's a perfect player for this team in terms of fit.
